Math Tutoring (for primary and secondary students)

I have been tutoring math for primary and secondary for two years before I moved to the Netherlands for my further studies. I am passionate about helping the students to understand what exactly they are learning in math classes in school. I genuinely care for the students to understand the basics of mathematics and guide them, until eventually, they would be able to solve the questions and find the joy of getting the answers right!

The students can bring their school coursework or homework, or past exam questions to ask me. I would prefer if the students would tell me what they would want me to explain beforehand (a picture of the coursework or questions), so that I would have a rough idea what to teach.

About Me

I am currently a full-time Bachelor student at the University of Amsterdam. I was born and raised in South Korea for almost ten years, before moving to Malaysia to study in English (as well as personal reasons). I studied and graduated from an international school which followed the British system. I finished my high school (Cambridge A-levels) in June of 2017, and took a gap year to work as a private tutor. I have taught students with a range of ages – from a 9-year-old girl who was learning her multiplications and timetables, up to students who were preparing for their high school entrance exam (IGCSE).

From teaching the students, I have learned to explain in different ways, until the student grasps the concept. I am very patient with my students and am always open with them to tell me if they do not understand my explanations. I love being interactive with my students, and I want my students to feel that we are actually studying together, instead of just a boring one-way communication where I just babble on with them listening to me. I always try to inspire and share the joy and passion with my students, and I believe that excellence is brought by understanding the concept of mathematics from their hearts.

Education

Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) - Grade A* in Mathematics and Additional Mathematics
Cambridge A-levels - Grade A in Mathematics (Pure Mathematics and Statistics)
Currently studying Bachelor's Business Administration at the University of Amsterdam

Experience / Qualifications

Almost two years of tutoring Mathematics to primary and secondary students.
I have taught students who were struggling and failing in school and helped them to improve and score much better.

Maths Tutoring for Middle School or High School Students
Mathematics is a course we all have to take at some point, and I'm here to help you with whatever topic you're struggling with. I did advanced math in high school and am currently taking linear algebra at university. Math can be tough sometimes, but I hope I can make your life easier by explaining concepts how you need them explained, and working on whatever you want to work on, trying to follow your syllabus to keep up with your classes.

Salome
French lessons or tutoring for elementary/high school students
Born and raised in France but educated partly in Australia. I am very used to handling relationships with individuals from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds. My method is to structure courses in two halves: conversations on specific news, social or cultural topics with the help of videos, pictures or articles and then focusing on the main vocabulary or grammar issues faced. This method is particularly adapted for students who have had a first scholar basis in french but who have not practised for a long time and want to upgrade their level in a daily conversational context. Alternatively, for students learning French as a second language at school, I will gladly help with the homework and focus on the main difficulties.

Paul-Antoine
Private French lessons (open to schoolchildren and those wishing to learn French)
Hello, My name is Paul-Antoine and I live in Amsterdam where I am a student. I am currently studying at the University of Amsterdam in the PPLE bachelor (Politics, Psychology, Law and Economics). From French parents, I followed all my education in the French system abroad and I speak French fluently. In these support courses which can be academic or simply an aid to the deepening of the language, I will bring my personal culture and my recent readings which will also allow the student to discover another facet of French literature. In addition, these courses are also open to those who simply want to learn French. If you would like more information on the learning methods that I will be offering, I invite you to contact me. Regards, Paul Anthony

Benoit
Private math lessons - Limoges or online - Qualified and experienced math teacher
I am a qualified and experienced mathematics tutor. Graduated from the Free University of Brussels in 2011, I started my career by teaching remedial courses in different schools in Brussels. I then specialized in individual academic support by following educational training at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. I have been giving private mathematics lessons daily for over ten years. The students who follow my private lessons benefit from personalized support. The first session is devoted to an in-depth assessment of the student's mathematical knowledge. The objective is to detect its weak points and understand their origin in order to adapt my courses to its needs. I develop a tailor-made remediation program for each of my students aimed at filling each of their gaps. Over the course of the sessions, the student builds a solid foundation for learning and regains self-confidence. At the same time, I help him acquire a work methodology that allows him to gradually become autonomous in his studies. I have a perfect knowledge of the mathematics program of the College and the High School (from the Sixth to the Terminale). During my formative years, I studied and developed many techniques that make it easier to learn math. The strength of my pedagogical approach lies in my ability to explain in a simple way everything that the student finds complicated. I am passionate about this job because it gives me the opportunity to guide dropout students on the path to success. It is a real pleasure to see them evolve and come to terms with the fantastic world of mathematics. I provide my private lessons in Limoges (at the student's home) or remotely (online via the internet). My distance learning courses take place on an interactive online whiteboard. This board is specially designed to promote student/teacher interaction on the internet. Thanks to this educational tool, my online courses are as effective as home courses. The student only needs an internet connection and a computer, tablet, or smartphone to take advantage of it.

Math, Physics and Science tutoring for children and teenagers: IB MYP, IGCSE, and GCSE.
I am Mavi, a physics engineer working at an aerospace company. I have been teaching private lessons at the primary, secondary, high school, and university preparatory levels for 9 years. I teach mathematics, physics, chemistry, and science. I have a good command of the curricula of IB, IGCSE, American, Hong Kong, and international schools. Additionally, I hold the position of president at the Astronomy Society, where I foster my students' interest in astronomy and science beyond the lessons. I prepare the learning environment by incorporating experiments and exploration, moving away from rote education. I often bring experimental materials to class, aiming to make learning memorable through hands-on experiments. As an educational mentor, I approach my students as if they were my siblings, valuing creativity. I have a deep passion for mathematics, physics, and science. I am dedicated to helping students understand and learn because life encompasses both SCIENCE and ART. The more people I can inspire to know, understand, and love mathematics, physics, and chemistry, the more proud I am. Are you curious about how nature works? Let's explore together!

Math tutoring for high school students
As a teaching professional, I have always enjoyed sharing my knowledge. My goal is to provide quality education. I am aware that some topics may seem complex, but often this is simply the result of an inadequate explanation by the teacher. With me, you will discover a real interest in the material! We strive together to achieve academic excellence, overcoming the shortcomings and difficulties encountered by your child. Studies will become a pleasant experience for him. In addition to the courses, I can also help with school orientation, identifying their preferences and highlighting the advantages and benefits of a fulfilling educational ambition. The sessions generally take place according to the following stages: 1️⃣ The first sessions are devoted to the assessment of the student's level in order to detect existing gaps. 2️⃣ Next, we create a personalized plan to address these gaps, including the number of hours of work needed, specific areas to focus on, and appropriate training and development exercises. 3️⃣ We stay in constant contact with the student's class teacher, to keep up to date with the latest requirements and ensure a consistent approach. 4️⃣ Subsequently, I provide exams similar to those that are likely to be asked in class, to prepare the student effectively. 5️⃣ Upon request, I write a regular report, usually monthly, to keep parents informed of their child's progress throughout their course. I adapt my methodology according to the specific needs of each student, thus offering them a personalized and adapted work approach. In addition, I offer crash courses for students preparing for the start of the school year, allowing them to start the year well prepared, with a solid lead on the school curriculum. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me. I will be happy to help you.
