for my Oboe lessons I like to focus on depending on the personal needs of the student are breathing technique, finger skills, posture and creativity. Most importantly though I try to convey my passion for this unique instrument and support my student on his personal journey of learning and growth. In order to create beautiful music, you will not only have to master playing the instrument but also making high quality reeds. Thats why also offer lessons on the craft of reed making, from the basics of making your first reed to perfecting concert grade reeds. My piano lessons cover a wide range of musical styles from Classical music, through Jazz all the way to contemporary pop music, depending on the students interests. Depending on the needs of the student the teaching can include and focus on different technical aspects such as finger flexibility, music theory or improvisation.

I am a professional oboist with over 20 years of specialised music education in England, Germany, and Belgium and performing experience with some of the best orchestras in the world including the London Symphony Orchestra, Gurzenich Orchestra in Koln, and National Orchestra of Belgium. I have experience teaching young children, teenagers, and adults as well as giving group lessons. I offer private one on one lessons either in my home or yours (and at the moment via webcam) with a focus on fun, musical fluency, gaining confidence in technique, and learning repertoire. I'm a master student in the Conservatoire royal de Bruxelles. My bachelor I obtained in the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel. You have the choice between oboe, English horn and reedmaking lessons. The lessons are adjusted to your needs and wishes. I have 7 years of experience in education, from children to adults. You will need your own instrument or your own reedmaking material for the lessons.

I give with great pleasure and passion oboe lessons for budding musicians of all ages and all levels - from total beginner oboist to very advanced level - through progressive lessons, based on the instrumental technique of the oboe and the development of musical expression on the instrument. I am patient and attentive, and I consider that it is obviously essential to adapt to the objectives and personality of the student. My pedagogy is based on the exchange, the development of the listening of the feelings with the instrument, the methodology in the work which leads to the effectiveness, and naturally the pleasure which the practice of the oboe gets. During my oboe lessons, enjoying music is central. The double reed plays an important role in both the sound and the ease of playing the oboe. I make sure there is always a reed that plays nicely. I am an oboe teacher based in The Hague. I studied a Bachelor of Music (oboe performance) at Sydney Conservatorium of Music and have just begun studying my Master of Music (oboe performance) at the Royal Conservatoire here in The Hague. I teach all ages and levels, whether you are a beginner or advanced, playing for fun or focusing on playing in bands/orchestra etc. I have been teaching privately and at schools in Sydney, and examine for the Australian Music Examinations Board when I am in Australia. I have played with many ensembles in Australia including the Australian Youth Orchestra, NSW Police Band, Willoughby Symphony Orchestra & the George Ellis Orchestra and also play lots of chamber music. My lessons are designed to provide the student with latest historical performance trends, discussion of the historical treatises that inform our practice as musicians and of course, the oboes themselves. I teach baroque oboes, which includes treble oboe, oboe d'amore and oboe da caccia, which would be able to teach to beginners all the way up to advanced players. I can also give lessons to beginner modern oboe players. Additionally, my classes can also be about music theory, which can provide you with a better understanding of the context of the music you like. I also make my own reeds and can make reeds for you, or even better, teach you how to make them! It is a beautiful thing to do once you get the hang of it. I obtained my bachelors and masters degrees from the Royal College of Music with honours, where I studied with Gail Hennessy.
