I generally structure my lessons in the format of long tones, scales, sight-reading, etude and pieces. Depending on the student's ability and goals when it comes to playing the oboe, I may vary my lesson structure slightly in order to suit each individual student's needs best.

Long tones and scales are the two things I still do every single day to this day, even after many years of playing the oboe professionally. They are the fundamental building blocks of tone, support and breathing and therefore need to be practiced regularly. This is why I always start my lessons with these, regardless of the student's level of playing.
Sight-reading is a very useful tool to acquire, especially if you would like to play in ensembles. And as for etudes and pieces, I believe that technique and musicality go hand in hand. You cannot have one without the other in order to play music to a high level. Therefore I encourage all my students to practice both.

About Me
Having over eight years of experience teaching the oboe both privately and in schools, over time I have come up with various tried and tested methods to help students overcome technical difficulties and make good progress in playing the oboe. Over the years I have taught students ranging from 7 to 60 years old from over 5 different countries and of varying abilities and goals. Whether you are preparing for an examination, learning the oboe as a hobby, or an advanced player who is looking for a second opinion on some repertoire, I am a friendly and encouraging teacher who places great importance on building rapport with her students. I am enthusiastic and passionate about teaching and helping people grow as an oboist and as a musician.
