About Me

I use strategies which are evidence based, i.e. they are based on the most current research on the acquisition of literacy. The lessons are multi-sensory and highly structured, to assure that your child understands the sound system and logic of the English language. Your child will enjoy these lessons because they will learn through 'play' and multi sensory strategies.
For me it is a joy to discover the challenges of your child, and find the right tool to help him/her improve his reading and writing skills.
Students in the Secondary Cycle are taught strategies to review their work, auto-correct, etc.
The joy of reading and writing is a necessary tool which can be taught to all students if the right methods are used.

Experience / Qualifications

I work in an international school, Belgium tutoring students with dyslexia and other literacy difficulties since 2017. I draft individual learning plans for the students based on their learning challenges. I previously worked at the University of Malta (Theatre Studies Program) tutoring students, improving their English writing skills. I also taught Art for many years. It is through teaching Art that I came across many students with learning difficulties which led me to pursue my studies in Special Educational Needs, specializing mainly in Dyslexia and ADD. This background has given me the resourcefulness and creativity to find solutions for the challenges my students face.

Dyslexia / Dypraxia / Reading and Writing difficulties support

Is your child having difficulties with reading and writing due to Dyslexia, Dypraxia , ADD or an other unspecified learning difficulties? Is your child struggling with reading in English? Is mastering spelling still a difficulty in spite of endless revisions? Has your child entered the Secondary cycle and is still a reluctant writer or is unable to correct and review his own work? I specialize in tutoring children who have difficulties in reading and writing either due to dyslexia and other literacy challenges/English is not their native language. I am specialized in evidence-based multisensory methods (Orton Gillingham approach) supporting students with literacy, such as: handwriting, reading and decoding. Upon request, I also give parents suggestions to support school work, spelling strategies, etc. The lessons are on a one to one basis or maximum two students. I am a qualified special educational needs teacher working in an International school.
