About Me
From complete beginner onwards, I take you through a step by step process, at an age appropriate level, in learning musical instrumental skills, combined with music theory, reading written music as well as improvisational skills. My lessons have a solid grounding in technique, and using step by step books and teaching resources, I will help you or your child to get a grasp of their instrument whilst enjoying the learning process. I help children who find concentration difficult by encompassing various activities within my lessons, enabling them to have fun whilst gaining an understanding of what it is to make music. I make use of backing tracks for students to play along to, some of which I even make myself. I also teach music composition and technology, as an experienced composer and music producer myself.
Education
Masters in Composition of Music for Film & TV from University of Bristol (2018)
BA in Popular and World Music from University of Leeds (2006)

I have extensive training in composition, music technology and production as well as instrumental playing.

Learn the VIOLIN or VIOLA or CELLO with me! I am a teacher with 15 years experience. I am a specialist in helping students of all ages to feel enthusiasm and motivation for learning their instrument. My lessons focus on the key elements, instrumental technique, reading music and performance skills and are tailored to the individual needs of the student. I believe that the learning process can be both fun and rewarding. I'm happy to take students through music exams, (or not if they prefer without) and my lessons include learning pieces, reading music, scales and technical skills, improvisation, creative music making and more.

I have been playing the violin for over 30 years with nearly 20 years teaching experience, a Masters in Composition (Bristol University) and degree in Popular and World Music (Leeds University). I teach Violin and viola from beginner to advanced level, and also teach cello, beginner to high intermediate levels. I love music, and love sharing the joy and skills of music with all my students, young or older, it's never to late to learn and to enjoy learning!

Feel free to get in touch and ask any questions you may have! I look forward to hearing from you.

Lyle
My name is Lyle, and I teach Trumpet, Piano, and also more general composition and music production.
I specialise in contemporary styles (anything from the last 100 years), and have found many of my students typically are:

- Young children, who's parents are looking for a teacher who is more interested in flexibility and helping the child become inspired and self-motivated, rather than crushed by overly academic and strict teaching.

- Adults who feel like their childhood instrumental learning has left them with large gaps in their knowledge and ability, particularly when it comes to improvisation and playing music without sheet music.

- Learners who are interested in developing their musicianship, and curious about, but also a bit scared by JAZZ.

- Learners who are interested in recording music, and want advice on both music and professional goals and the industry.

I am happy to teach grades, but have a strong teaching philosophy that focuses around more specifically tailored learning paths that focus on giving the student the tools needed to become self-sufficient playing and creating music, whether it be to relax at home, play with others, or write songs.

If this sounds good, please don't hesistate to get in touch and we can discuss further!

About me:
I am currently completing my Level 4 Music Educator certificate from Trinity College, and have been fully teaching professionally for just over two years, since finishing my studies.

As a trumpeter, I have played on European tours with various bands, played on great stages such as The Royal Festival Hall, Bath Forum, and at Glastonbury Festival.

I also have my own band, LYLE!, in which I sing, play keyboards, play trumpet, and write and produce all of the music, as well as playing and performing with many different bands across the UK.
