Originally, I was born in Germany from a Turkish-German mother and an italian father : that's why I speak fluently Italian, German and Turkish. Additionally, I have an excellent level of English, thanks to having been attended both a bachelor and a master entirely taught in English.

Hello everyone,

I am Mara, 24 years old master's student in Arts, Culture and Society, currently living in Rotterdam. I was born in Germany from a Turkish-German mother and an italian father. Being born in a multicultural family, led me to learn and appreciate languages and culture; indeed I lived between all three countries Germany, Turkey, Italy.

Additionally, I speak also Spanish, since I have spent an academic semester studying there.

I am a certified English teacher who has recently moved to Rotterdam from the United States. English is my native language. Whether you are a true beginner, intermediate, or an advanced English speaker who is simply looking for someone to practice with, I am here to help.

I have a true understanding of how intimidating learning a new language can be and tailor each lesson to suit your individual needs. We will assess what you already know and work together to set goals that will push you out of your comfort zone but not be overwhelming. Since moving to Rotterdam I have helped many students work towards their English language learning goals. I have experience teaching ESL (English as a second language) for business and regularly help ESL students prepare for interviews.

A little about the lessons: I like to use a variety of materials to build my lessons but a typical lesson will focus on a relevant topic to suit your interests and needs, and give you various opportunities to practice listening, comprehension, discussion, formation of complex thoughts and ideas, reading, and building vocabulary. I like to utilize technology when it can be used to enrich the lesson and assign homework as a continuation of our session.

This class will have an informal approach to learning the language, adapted to each students' needs and preferences. A diversity of materials will be provided, as well as online resources, all depending on the age of the student. As a German speaker with a C1 level, I am aware of the cultural implications of the language, even though I am not an expert in it, of course. Why you should choose me as your Tutor:

1) Having moved around quite a bit, I understand the stress students undergo adapting to new schooling systems.

3) I previously was a primary school teacher of all subjects (Grades 1&2) for a top private international school in Lagos Nigeria.
4) I am familiar with international school curriculum ad challenges faced by students when moving to a new country. 5) I have extensive experience with students of all learning levels. I have been privately tutoring.
6) I am not very strict when it comes to extra time. We can extend a bit. +10 mins is no problem. I always think that long sessions with small pauses are better so that you get a grip of the topic.
7) I can teach in group as well as alone, what suits you best. In case you are out for a break and don't want to lag behind in comparison to what is going on in school we, can have some back to back classes in short time, if that suits you.
In summary, Teaching has been a long time passion for me. I have about 12 years teaching experience and have held classes with several group of students. After moving to University I was also delivering sessions for my classmates from different parts of the world.

Who? I am a twenty-eight-year-old French and U.S. Anthropology student. I am trained in FLE (French as a Second Language) and have worked for the National French Education Ministry as a Middle School Teacher on the beautiful island of Mayotte. Following that exotic experience, I decided to change course and study Anthropology all the while teaching French as a Second Language on a freelance basis. I moved to the Netherlands just recently and have decided to continue practicing as a French tutor. I have also tutored English classes in France for five years.

What? I offer French or FLE (French as a Second Language) courses based on multiple sources and I regularly renew them because it is important to be in adequacy with today's society. As I just started learning Dutch, I teach in English all the while aiming for 90% French during the class.

Do you want to learn German from a native?

I can teach you German depending on your needs. Wether you want to practice your grammar or speech and conversational skills (or all) is up to you. At first we would determine your level and wishes, from then on I will teach you with my study material and we will practice together. I have build my study material while living abroad in Spain. There I had students from all ages that I thought German to. I always try to incorporate creativity and fun into my lessons. Homework is also a recommended part of the lessons.

My name is Mohamed from Syria, and I hold a degree in Business Administration. My journey with the English language began with a deep passion for learning it. I’m fluent in teaching both bacalhau Portuguese and caipirinha Portuguese (PT & BR). I’m deeply involved with both cultures.
