International Baccalaureate English, Grade 3 - DP2 (IB)

I can offer English tutoring for grades 3 through to DP2 in IB English. I passed the IB with a consistent 7 in English Language and Literature (the highest English course available) and received full marks for most of my assignments. I can help with fundamental concepts, understanding of what is expected to meet the IB's requirements, and how to answer the questions and do the assignments to meet the specific expectations of the IB. I am also available to help with the completion of assignments (in terms of guiding, correcting, and suggestions) and with whatever course work is assigned (including any books that are assigned.)

NB: If the work with which I am to help is related to an assigned reading book, please inform me of the book in advance so that I can do some preparatory work.

Hi! :) I'm Elme. I'm South African, and I grew up all over Africa. I've lived in Cameroon, Ghana, Kenya, South Africa, the Netherlands for the past 5 years and now I live in the USA. I've traveled all over the world so chances are I've spent some time in your home country! As for tutoring, when I was a student in the IB I was in need of a tutor for math, and I tried out multiple different ones before I found what worked for me. Due to this, I have some invaluable personal experience as to what works and what doesn't. I also understand the inner workings of the IB and the weird and wonderful criteria that they set for their students, as well as how to 'hack' that sometimes complicated system. During my high school years, I tutored my siblings and their friends as well as my own friends and some other students who reached out. I consider myself pretty easy to get along with and I can quickly get a read on what exactly each student needs in the long run, in order for continued success :)

Education

I graduated from the IB Diploma Programme myself and I am currently doing my second year of a Bachelor of European Law at Maastricht University. I also attended UWCM for two years!

I recently completed my Bachelor's Degree in Law from Maastricht University, and will be starting my Master's Degree in International Business and Economic Law from the University of Southern California!

International Baccalaureate Biology Standard Level (SL, IB)

I passed the IB diploma program for Biology Standard Level with full marks, I also received a 7 on my Internal Assessment (IA). I have a very good grasp on what the IB expects from it's students (all the weird and wonderful little criteria.) I have a very good grasp on Biology the subject itself, as it was one of my favorite classes and I understand the concepts on a broader and more minute scale, so I can help students to understand the topics as well as the specifics and how they all play into one another. I aim to provide students with not just the memorization of information in a somewhat robotic sense, but an actual understanding and comfortable grasp on all the topics, ideas and concepts. I can help with any homework or course work provided, including providing feedback and guidance on essays and assignments. I also like to set out extra homework (not difficult, just based on our sessions) to get back to me at the next meeting so that the student's confidence and grasp on the subjects continues to build and I can see where exactly they need assistance.

NB: prior to our meetings, if possible, I would appreciate being sent whatever course work or topics the student is currently doing in class (or the syllabus, in the best case scenario) in order to best maximize my planning and ability to assist.

International Baccalaureate History (Standard Level, Higher Level, Grade 3 - DP2, IB)

I completed the IB DP with a consistent 7/ high 6 in Higher Level History, and this has always been one of my favorite subjects. I am very good at this subject and have somewhat of a passion for it. I have a very good grasp of what is expected from the IB students as pertains to this subject, and I know the ins and outs of the criteria and the weird and wonderful little ways in which the IB expects the students to perform. I am able to help with any course work, homework, assignments, or assessments. As pertains to the DP students, I also did my EE on a History topic so I can assist there if need be. I am also a tutor in English and as comprehensive writing and legibility is a large part of what is expected from IB History students, I can offer particular insight into how to best write and get arguments across.

Born in France, I'm a French native speaker and used to teach French and Literature in Geneva through the organisation l'ARA. After one year in England, I'm fluent in English and got the Cambrigde C1 level (Certificate in Advanced English given by Cambrigde).
I'm here in Maastricht to do my master's degree in Human rights and besides I would love to teach and help children or young people to improve their language skills, as I have a very easy and good contact with them.

I tutor in French and English to a wide range of students, from beginners to more advanced students. The point for both classes is to give beginners a glimpse into the beauty of the language and to introduce them to the basics in an entertaining and enjoyable way. The ultimate objective of these classes would be to ensure that beginners, by the end of the lessons, have acquired fair understanding, listening, and writing skills. On the other hand, advanced students are expected to experience even further progress in such skills. It must be noted that I will try to give each lesson in the targeted language, privileging the latter as much as possible during the lesson so as to help the student dive into the language.

Learning languages can be done quickly enough while having fun. Having learned French as a mother tongue and having been in English and university schools, I learned in many different ways how to learn a language without being annoying.

at school, we never understood why we learned statistics. Yet, it is becoming a crucial topic in everyday life. I could give you French or English stats classes and teach you how to handle Excel and SPSS too.

I speak French and English fluently and used to do after school tutoring of various school subjects for children and teenagers. Learning languages can be a fun and interesting experience that will always be useful, and that's something that I want to share. I adapt my teaching style to different people's needs so we'd discuss that during the 1st lesson. We don't have to limit ourselves to languages either, I'm happy to help out with homework if you/your child has difficulties at school, so we can also do maths (to a relatively basic level), history-geography, etc.
