My name is Denise and I'm a professional singer with a singing master's degree from Catalonia's Music College (ESMUC) specialized in Historical Singing, Musicology and Music Education.
My experience runs mostly in early and chamber music, nevertheless I also have the experience and knowledge of popular musical styles such as Latin-American folk, jazz and musicals.
As a docent or vocal coach I've collaborated with different academic institutions and private artistic projects, focusing mostly on international students or social integration programs.

My main goal is to help the student discover her or his voice while enjoying making music.
No experience is needed, just bring your enthusiasm and favorite music.

Je donne cours en académie et j’enseigne le piano depuis de nombreuses années.
Parallèlement, je me produis sur scène avec différents ensembles et je compose pour plusieurs de mes groupes.
Mes cours s’adressent aussi bien aux débutants qu’aux pianistes confirmés.
Pour les débutants, le solfège est directement intégré et mis en pratique à travers le piano.
Nous travaillons la technique et la musicalité en tenant compte de votre niveau, de vos attentes et de vos envies.
Le répertoire est ainsi choisi en fonction du profil de chacun.

I have over 12 years of teaching experience and I have been working as a Professional Pianist for 7 years now, in 8 different countries (Switzerland, Austria, Iceland, Spain, etc.) and on Luxury Cruise Ships (Worldwide).

I can show you how to have fun with the piano. If you're a beginner, I can take you right from step one and have you playing familiar songs by the 1st or 2nd lesson. If you already have some experience, I can add to it.

My main goal is to help you achieve your goals and prepare the best lesson for you!

I've been playing and studying piano since age 6 (over 25 years ago). I began with classical music, and later added Ragtime, Jazz, Blues, Pop, Rock, and Chord theory.

I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance, Classical Music (4 years). I have participated in numerous Piano Masterclasses in Europe, and I studied with great pianists. I still learn from different Highly Accomplished Musicians. I believe learning never stops.

I have much to share with my students.

TEACHING STYLE

I am a very patient teacher. I love teaching all ages. I don't teach everyone the same way. I tailor lessons according to individual goals and needs. I insist on the importance of technique and musicality.

I also guide all my students even outside of the teaching time, by responding to all their questions (music theory or technical) and sending them videos.

I teach how to prevent Piano Injuries by focusing on proper technique, posture, and practice habits.

My professional experience includes coaching students of all levels and ages. I successfully prepared the students for their Piano Exams, like ABRSM, Trinity Grade, from grades 1-8, with merits and distinctions, and more advanced exams as well (Performance Diplomas).

I teach for the Enjoyment of Music as well. I believe you can learn to play the piano at any age. My oldest student is over 75 years old, and my youngest one is 3 years old. They made great progress, and I am sure you could do the same.

I've never met anyone who didn't have musical abilities! You can be a serious or a recreational player. The only requirement is the willingness to spend some time at the piano.

I conduct my lessons using a combination of 4 cameras for optimum visibility, and a quality microphone which my students find very helpful. This allows them to see a very clear visual demonstration alongside my verbal explanation.

I can confidently say that Online Lessons are the same as In-Person Lessons.

CURRICULUM

I do not believe one method works for all students. I have used many different lesson books and resources over the years.

For beginners I like to use Alfred method books for basics concepts and for Classical and Jazz Piano technique I like to use ABRSM books (grade 1-8). If my student feels that they can learn better from another books, I am glad to adapt my teaching strategies to their needs.

Along with the lesson books below, I use a lot of supplemental materials based on the students' interests. I also aim to teach their favorite songs as soon as possible.

I like to clearly explain and demonstrate piano technique. In this way, the students are able to apply the information on similar passages from all genres of music.

Piano/Keyboard - Alfred , Hal Leonard, Abrsm Grade (1-8), Trinity Grade (1-8), Hanon etc.

I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard.

My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student.

Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you.

A bit about me:

Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. The video shown below is from my stint playing and directing 'After Midnight', a show set to the music of the Duke Ellington Big Band.

Pianiste, j'ai été formé à l'École Normale de Musique de Paris dans la classe de Pierre Etcheverry et en cours privés avec Jacques Rouvier. J’ai également exercé en tant que directeur-adjoint de conservatoire (CRC) en région parisienne. Diplômé et plusieurs fois lauréat de différents concours : Madeleine de Valmalète (2ème prix, deux années consécutives), Musica (1er prix à l'unanimité, avec félicitations, deux années consécutives).

Ayant à cœur de transmettre mon savoir-faire et surtout ma passion pour la musique, je donne des cours depuis plus de 15 ans. Quelque soit votre niveau de départ, votre motivation et votre amour de la musique vous permettront de progresser très rapidement.

Je donne des cours de chant et de coaching vocal pour adolescents et adultes.
Je suis professeure de chant, spécialisée dans la technique de chant moderne formée à l'académie LA VOCE-FULVIO TOMAINO VOICE ACADEMY, à Rome en Italie.

Mes leçons se composent d'une première phase au cours de laquelle l'élève prendra connaissance de toutes les notions techniques et phoniques fondamentales pour une utilisation correcte de l'instrument vocal.

Une fois que les connaissances techniques de l'élève auront été acquises, nous ferons un travail visant à développer sa propre vocalité artistique à travers l'écoute, l'analyse et l'étude de morceaux des principaux styles de musique moderne, de la pop au rock, du blues au funk, du jazz, au musical.
