I am a highly experienced and enthusiastic university teacher, tutor, and researcher with over 20 years of academic experience in the biological and biomedical sciences. I am Emeritus Professor since 1st of October 2025. Y My career has involved lecturing, small-group teaching, laboratory instruction, and the supervision of BSc, MSc, MRes, and PhD students. My expertise spans molecular and cellular biology, biochemistry, microbiology, parasitology, genetics, immunology, microbial ecology, evolutionary biology, and the One Health framework. I began tutoring during my undergraduate studies and have since supported learners across a wide range of topics—from cell biology and evolution to host–parasite interactions and integrated biological systems. Throughout my career, I have taught and mentored students from diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, both in the UK and internationally. This experience has strengthened my commitment to inclusive, empathetic, and globally aware teaching. In addition to subject tutoring, I provide tailored support in scientific writing, data analysis, oral presentation skills, and research project development. My teaching style emphasises clarity, conceptual integration, and real-world application, adapting to each learner’s goals, background, and preferred learning style. My overarching aim is to help students build confidence, develop strong critical-thinking skills, and become effective, curious, and independent learners.
