Portrait Sketching is a skill which you need when who don’t have any idea on what to gift people on their birthday’s. Just kidding. In this age of digital media, if you still want to learn physical sketching and painting, you have my heart. The worth of a hand drawn sketch or painting is still more. This class would have basics to advanced techniques of sketching and painting and would require basic pencils, paint and your own brain in the beginning, then we can move to other tools required. Don’t worry if you haven’t painted or sketched before, the worst that could happen is lot of pages being torn but some might turn out to be abstract which we can sell and then split the money, hahaha! that’s it, rest would be fun.

In this class we will explore drawing through a series of therapeutic art and mindfulness exercises. This class is designed to encourage students to free the mind of judgement and explore the realms of unpredictability and subconscious creation. You will be lead through simple techniques of mark making, pattern and experimental drawing with a focus on breathing and sensation. As well as drawing to music, poems and film, we will be taking a look at a few artists who have worked within the realms of the abstract drawing and the subconscious. The aim of this class is to quieten our conscious mind and place our thoughts completely in the present, in turn creating a deeper connection with ourselves and the world around us.

I teach painting, drawing, installation art , art research and art experiments. I believe that the art- practice is an incredible method to understand ourselves and the situations that surround us. My students will learn how to work with several mediums, creating their own art experiments: paintings, canvases, and so on. They will also learn how to criticise an artwork in an academic way. Apart from being one of the oldest forms of self-expression, drawing and painting is scientifically proven to enhance brain function, raise serotonin levels, relax the nervous system and therefore improve our general well-being. Watercolor painting is particularly therapeutic as we explore the properties of watercolors through mark-making techniques which we can later apply in our more elaborate paintings. Even if you are a complete beginner with a 'can't do' attitude, I will guide you through the process of selecting a subject, doing an initial sketch, mixing colors, and applying some of the techniques we explored in the first stages of our class. At present, I only offer outdoor sketching and painting sessions around London parks and green spaces. It's also a very enjoyable way of appreciating nature while learning a new skill. I will help you set up your easel if you are using one and help you set up for a successful outdoor session. When working outdoors weather conditions are often not ideal, wind, rain, too hot, too cold..etc. I will help you work with the elements which might just produce some of your best work as you work faster and more freely. There is nothing like capturing the atmosphere of a place on location. By working en plein air you are also telling a visual story of the place. Ideal for visual storytellers, illustrators, bloggers, or anyone interested in gaining more confidence painting on location. I recommend a minimum of 2-hour session. Longer sessions can be arranged also. Sessions can be booked in advance.
