Trusted teacher: In the IGCSE and CIE (Cambridge International Education)curricula, Genetics is a part of Biology under the broader topics of inheritance and variation. It is covered in both IGCSE Biologyand AS/A Level Biology. Below is a breakdown of what you can expect in each: IGCSE Biology (Cambridge - 0610/0970) The topic of genetics is introduced under the following key areas: 1. Variation and Inheritance - Genetic variation: Understanding differences caused by genetic and environmental factors. - Inheritance: - Definition of key terms: genes, alleles, dominant, recessive, homozygous, heterozygous, phenotype, genotype. - Monohybrid inheritance (using Punnett squares to predict offspring ratios). - Concepts of dominant and recessive traits. - Structure of DNA: - Basic structure of DNA (double helix) and its role in carrying genetic information. - Mutations: - Causes (e.g., radiation, chemicals) and effects of mutations on organisms. 2. Selective Breeding and Genetic Engineering (basic concepts): - Selective breeding in animals and plants to produce desired traits. - Introduction to genetic modification (GM), though details are limited in IGCSE. --- CIE AS and A Level Biology (9700) At the A Level, genetics is covered in greater depth. Key concepts include: 1. DNA and Protein Synthesis: - Structure of DNA, RNA, and nucleotides. - Transcription, translation, and protein synthesis. - Genetic code and its universal nature. 2. Cell Division: - Mitosis and meiosis. - Significance of meiosis in genetic variation (crossing over, independent assortment). 3. Inheritance: - Mendelian genetics: monohybrid and dihybrid crosses. - Codominance and multiple alleles. - Sex-linked inheritance (e.g., haemophilia, color blindness). - Pedigree analysis. 4. Gene Technology: - Recombinant DNA technology (genetic modification and cloning). - Applications of genetic engineering in medicine and agriculture. 5. Mutations: - Gene mutations and their effects. - Chromosomal abnormalities. 6. Variation and Selection: - Natural selection and evolution. - Role of genetic variation in populations. --- Summary - At the IGCSE level, genetics focuses on basic concepts of inheritance, variation, DNA structure, and simple Punnett square problems. - At the AS/A Level, the depth increases significantly, introducing advanced topics like meiosis, protein synthesis, genetic engineering, and natural selection.

Trusted teacher: Life is too short to be lived in misery, or with regret, or having not found fulfilment in our unique individual purpose in this world. We came here to sing our own unique song, to taste in its fullness the wonder and beauty of this mysterious and miraculous place. This is our birthright, and we should be uncompromising in reclaiming it. If you feel that there's more to life, if you feel that there's something missing, or you're feeling stuck in some way, our meditation sessions can help elevate, give clarity and move you forward. MY APPROACH: *My sessions are for ALL levels and ALL ages (assessed on a case-by-case basis), I will meet you where you're at. *All sessions are tailored around your needs. When working with me, you have my full energy and attention. I'm here for the sole purpose of assisting you. *Heart-led approach: as a space holder I'm here to receive you in a completely non-judgemental and compassionate way. It's my job to make you feel safe and I will be there to guide you through anything you want to explore in these sessions. ~ Meditation is the Root, but there are many branches that may be required for an individual's development. This is why I like to incorporate various modalities (as needed) such as: *qigong *breathwork/pranayama/kriyas *somatic movement/dance *strength conditioning *sound healing *plus advisories regarding nutrition, lifestyle, and more... The core of my approach is that which has been taught by all ancient traditions: the path of Self-Awareness. Through self-awareness we can restore a sense of Wholeness. Before we can feel safe, stable and not be in a reactionary state, we must clear and re-balance the mind. Then we are in a position to gain new insights and open up to new possibilities. The biggest problem in today’s world is FOCUS. Most of us are on autopilot 95% of the time (this is proven by the latest neuroscience). We must develop our concentration by having a meditation practice and being mindful during our day. Everything begins with Stillness. Once we're established in this stillness, we are able to find more flow, we transform confusion into clarity, and suffering into love. We’re able to let go of what is holding us back from living a life of fulfilment, purpose, joy, creativity and prosperity. Once we realise in a tangible way that all things arise from this place of stillness, we are able to take responsibility and ownership of our lives. WHAT TO EXPECT: A central part of my practice is sharing, discussion, reflection. Sessions are usually oriented around a certain topic of discussion/sharing, where you would bring a specific question, topic or issue to explore further. We may start (or end) with a tea (with optional assistive herbs), and see where it takes us. Using meditation/discussion as a starting point, intuitively I will guide the session to where I feel it needs to go - such as into a sound bath, further meditation or perhaps we need to do some energetics to move stagnant energies. Sometimes it works the other way around, we can start with a meditation, that may or may not have a specific focus, and from there the session will unfold potentially into points of sharing/discussion. Everyone is different, every day is different ~ so we just go with the flow of what the present moment asks of us. WORKING WITH ME ON A DEEPER LEVEL: I have limited spaces for working more closely 1:1 - for those looking for a deep recalibration and transformation. The extent of this offering is a full blueprint that comes from my life’s work of spiritual training and study and holistic life design. Sharing with you my philosophy and principles, and many years of experience - for the right people I am available for this level of mentorship. I do not subscribe to a specific religion, but I'm so very grateful to be able to draw upon the timeless wisdom of such venerated traditions: Various ancient lineages of Yoga Advaita Vedanta Buddhism (Zen, Theravada, etc.) Taoism (Water Method) Sufism Mystic Christian tradition ... and many more. Wishing you total fulfilment and prosperity in this life, Vincent

Parinaz

rating green star
I highly recommend Parinaz for anyone trying to learn Farsi! Her teaching approach is excellent and she’s able to adeptly tailor the lessons to my existing knowledge, ensuring an optimal pace for learning. She also integrates cultural nuances/topics related to vernacular Farsi into lessons, which is great for someone like myself who’s interested particularly in speaking rather than reading/writing. Parinaz is also very flexible with time and scheduling, so even if you have an irregular personal schedule, she can find time to have a class with you.

Highly recommended! It was really nice to receive a message from Lou regarding our search for guitar lessons! Due to corona and a closed school, my 13 year old had more time to play guitar and she wanted to learn more about composition/scales. How cool that for online lessons, distance is no obstacle (we live in Luxembourg). We highly recommend Lou's enthusiastic and professional lessons!
