Trusted teacher: Hi! My name is Matteo, I'm a professional bassist from Brussels, currently based in Amsterdam. I perform and have performed with renowned musicians and bands from many different scenes and styles, bringing me to venues all over the world (USA, UK, Germany, Denmark, France, Romania, Portugal, Spain...). I have a deep passion for music ever since I started playing 16 years ago, and would like to share it with you! Bass is the best! And I want to help you uncover it's full potential. I believe the best way to learn music is to study what you love, and always work from a place of curiosity and passion. Therefore, we will always look together for ways of making the process the most enjoyable and tackle different topics through the music YOU love. The classes are tailored to each individual student: we find the best workflow for you, and adapt the lessons. If you need structure and a clear program, I can provide that; but if you prefer to keep it loose and see as we go, it's all good. All that matters is your continued motivation and progress. Among other things, we can focus on: -Basic technique on the instrument -Learning songs of your choice, with a method that will allow you to learn songs by yourself later on. -Learn about different styles: Pop, Rock, Funk, Soul, Metal, Jazz... -Develop your understanding of music through the instrument (scales, arpeggios...) -Creativity, and improvisation through the use of the material we have studied together -Ear training and music theory -Rhythm, all the way from basic to very advanced -Basic compositional techniques, or fun ways to start composing I have been teaching privately for the past 6 years, with very happy students. I can also teach online if it's better, I also have regular online students with whom we are making great progress. For the lesson, there is no need to bring an instrument: I can lend you one. Trusted teacher: Did you ever hear a tune and you felt like you wanted to just play over it? Did you ever feel like you’d like to discover what makes a tune that special? I can help you to understand how music works and what makes it such an incredible art form! Listening to what you want and need, I can make a tailored plan with you on what you’d like to learn and get you going in the instrument and in your theory. Whether you’re a complete beginner of picking back the trumpet we can work together and make this journey as fun as possible. I teach Trumpet in the multiple styles that you might have come across - being jazz, salsa, disco, pop or funk. In case you’d like to learn more about how to improvise on the trumpet we can also tackle that and get you going, all while having fun! I teach all ages and from absolute beginner to Intermediate players. I speak English, Portuguese, Spanish, and I’m also taking my steps into learning Dutch, even though music is such a universal language. I live in Amsterdam and you can learn at my studio in NDSM, or I can come and meet where you are! It is also possible to arrange lessons in the center of Amsterdam, close to Centraal Station. About me? I’m Luso-american musician who moved to Amsterdam to study jazz trumpet at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, where I’m currently finishing my bachelor degree. I started playing the trumpet when I was 9 years old, and since then my passion for music just kept on growing bigger. My main focus as a jazz musician was big band playing, where I’m specialised in lead trumpet playing, however I kept myself open to different styles being part of Afrobeat bands, playing in small formations, such as trios or just playing some groovin’ music from Earth Wind & Fire or Kool & The Gang.
