ENGLISH: Hello! I am a native English speaker (with a West Coast North American accent) offering English conversation and tutoring sessions in Paris to both children and adults. I have a Bachelor's degree in Art History and propose lessons based around art, if that is of interest. I am in France working as an English teaching assistant in elementary schools. I have about eight years' experience working with children, tutoring in both English and French. For both children and adults, I take the approach of using culture as the base rather than only drilling vocabulary and grammar. Each lesson would be based on a certain theme, but I would let the student decide what elements they want to focus on (all while building a list of useful vocabulary and grammar tip). The goal is to speak entirely in English, but I am conversationally fluent in French so I can work with all levels of learners. I offer two types of lessons: 1. English conversation: the focus would be spoken understanding. This may include some supplemental materials, but the majority of the time would be spent having the student speak about a certain topic while I correct grammar and offer additional vocabulary. 2. English tutoring: the focus would be understanding in speaking, reading, listening, and writing. Each lesson would focus on a certain theme but include all of these elements using supplemental materials such as news articles, music, short videos, or excerpts from books. ENGLISH: Hello! I'm a native English speaker from the United States (with a West Coast accent) who offers conversation sessions and private English lessons in Paris for children and adults. I have a degree in art history and offer basic art courses, if you're interested. I'm working in France this year as an English language assistant in elementary schools. I have about eight years of experience working with children, giving private lessons in English and French. For both youth and adults, I approach teaching by thinking about culture first, rather than just training vocabulary and grammar. Each lesson would be based on a theme, but I would leave the future of the conversation up to the student (while building a list of useful vocabulary and grammar tips). The goal is to speak only English, but I speak French at a C1 level, so I can work with all levels of learners. I offer two types of lessons: 1. English Conversation: The focus would be on spoken comprehension. It may include supplemental materials, but most of the time the student will speak on a topic while I correct grammar and offer additional vocabulary. 2. Private English lessons: The focus would be on speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Each lesson would focus on one theme but would include all of these elements using supplementary materials such as newspaper articles, music, short videos, or excerpts from books.

Trusted teacher: It seems important to me to meet the student for the first time before starting to work together, to know his objectives, his shortcomings and to design courses adapted to his profile. At the outcome of this meeting, I propose to base each course on a different medium, corresponding to the centers of interest of the student. For example, I'm thinking of working on song lyrics, film or animated excerpts, radio podcasts, newspaper articles, youtube videos, novels, paintings, or personality profiles related to the English-speaking world. . In this way it will be possible to practice speaking, writing, listening and writing. All these supports will obviously be adaptable at all levels. In addition to this work of reflection I propose the holding of a notebook vocabulary that we could complete at the end of each session, so as to have a tool for memorizing the new lexicon. Having never taught in this context I only rely on the methods that worked during my learning English, I am quite ready to modify this program according to the way of learning of my student ! As far as I am concerned, I am a second-year student of the French LLCER (Languages Literatures Foreign and Regional Civilizations) at the Sorbonne Nouvelle. My practice of English and my passion for this language go beyond the grids of the university, I have stayed several times in the United Kingdom, country to which I feel a particular affection. I, in addition, worked several months as an au pair in Birmingham, where I took care of Ishaan, 9years :) As part of my bachelor's degree, I will be taking classes in language science and language acquisition this year. I am very excited about putting into practice the concepts that will be taught to me this year and using them to improve the quality of my classes.
