Philosophy can often seem like a frustrating and alien academic field, with arbitrary questions and endless arguments. However with a experienced philosopher as a guide (such as myself) the discipline can be revealed as an exciting exploration of ourselves and the world around us. Depending on what interests you, or what your course requires you to study, we will read texts together, analyse concepts and arguments and actually practice philosophy by having discussions and refining arguments.

Philosophy is a magic sword when it comes to navigating the modern world. As we are bombarded with information, a engaged philosophy education gives you the critical thinking and logical analysis skills dismiss the rhetoric and nonsense and find the truth and falsity in a statement, making you a better citizen and friend.

My specialism is the philosophy of physics, including the philosophy of quantum mechanics, philosophy of science and philosophy of time. My other interests include metaphysics and the political philosophy.

About Me
I am a confident graduate from the University of Bristol in the UK. I am friendly, happy, and patient, with lots of experience speaking about my subjects and sharing my knowledge with students, friends, and even family! I graduated with first-class honors in Physics and Philosophy, and with a commendation!

I have a passion for developing other people's understanding of the subject. Maths and physics, and even philosophy, can often seem to be scary, and intimidating. However with my patience and support, I believe everybody can understand them, and hopefully see the beauty and joy of the subjects.

In my free time, away from my subjects, I love reading literary fiction. My favorite work is Joyce's Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man and Dostoevsky's The Brother's Karamazov. I also spend hours playing the piano and guitar and get exercise from playing basketball and going for walks in nature.
Education
My most recent education is completing a master's with first-class honors in Physics and Philosophy from the University of Bristol, UK. I graduated with a commendation and excellent grades. The University of Bristol is a very high achieving and competitive university with one of the best physics department's in the country.

At university, I studied a joint honors course in Physics and Philosophy and loved every moment! I particularly enjoyed studying quantum mechanics and general relativity and reading about the philosophic foundations of modern physics. My philosophy of physics project is being published and I was awarded a first-class honors degree, averaging over 80% in physics and mathematics exams.

I am now applying to study theoretical physics at Cambridge and will go on to a Ph.D. and a research career.
Experience / Qualifications
I spent two years working with professional tutoring firm Creative in Excellence, where I tutored maths and English. At university I spent lots of time helping and teaching friends, hosting study sessions and being a point of contact whenever someone needed assistance. Furthermore I was president of Physics and Philosophy society, and organised and delivered seminars and lectures on topics in physics and the philosophy and history of physics.

I love my subjects and believe studying can be enjoyable and engaging, with a good teacher. I want to share my passion for learning and understanding with students and make physics, maths and philosophy accessible and clear to as many people as possible.

My high-level specialisms include quantum mechanics and quantum information theory, mechanics, and the philosophy of physics. I also love metaphysics and epistemology, and the philosophy of time.

In addition I have experience teaching from my time volunteering in Uganda. I spent 3 months teaching water health and sanitation to school children and the water community. Furthermore I have won public speaking awards in regional competitions in the UK!

I hope you consider me to be your tutor and help grow your enjoyment and understanding of maths, physics and philosophy.

Physics is the subject that aims at the best and most fundamental description of nature. If you want ask why anything in the universe happens, at the very bottom of that explanation is the study of physics. In this class I can teach physics at any level, from the very basics of Newtonian mechanics, up to courses in quantum mechanics, solid state theory and general relativity. I will make the concepts and physical intuitions clear, whilst also guiding you through the intricate mathematics, and by the end you will be closer the a beautiful and exciting understanding of the cosmos and its workings!

Mathematics is the an astonishing and wonderfully useful tool for talking about the world. Whether you want to understanding the behavior of a physical system, or predict the likelihood of an event, or just budget for your month, maths allows us to navigate the universe more easily. In this class I can help you understand maths at almost any level, whether you in high school trying to pass exams, or an adult tired of being perplex by strange symbols and ideas!

We will discuss your goals for the class and I will curate a course to improve your knowledge, teaching you concepts and going through problems together, and by the end you will not only enjoy the subject, but also be better equipped to pass your exams or use maths in your everyday life.

Vincent Van Gogh once said something to the effect that greatness is a series of little things coming together, Emile Durkheim the great French sociologist first 'coined', "the whole is more than the sum of its parts" and Montesquieu conceived of laws in relation to climate.

What do all of these have to do with each other? The fact that the interpretation and understanding of one of the realms of socio-political knowledge is not enough to either understand that single discipline of study whether it be Law, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology or Philosophy- you cannot separate any from the whole and be able to understand the Short, Nasty,BrutishTM nature that reality is and that conditions human life.

While my studies and work have nigh been exclusively related to Law, my interests which pushed me there were/are seemingly very different. Through my experience I may humbly submit that the the perspectives that each discipline approaches problems with are crucial in solving very distinct "linguistic" problems within their specific paradigms. They however are victims of dogma as is academia in general it would be fair to say. Living in the times we do, it is not only necessary as a basic informational issue but as an issue of responsible citizenry, young adults must be well educated about the political economy.

Whether you're looking to study and/or are currently studying and/or want to learn about any of the aforementioned subjects whether in conjunction with current coursework and/or assignments, or if you're just interested and would like to learn about a specific period in time, this is for you.
