About Me

I am a master student at Luca school of arts, Leuven and I already have a bachelor diploma from Luca school of arts and a music teaching diploma from National music school, Sofia.
I am playing flute already 16 years and I would be very happy to help you with this instrument. I am a flute teacher in the academy in Vossem. I am laureate of several intentional flute competitions and part of international youth orchestras.
I would be very happy to help you and to give you my knowledge about music, flute, and piccolo.

Graduated in France for a classical training, I offer courses of flutes (from piccolo to octobasse via bass and viola!).
The content of the courses will be adapted to the needs of each one. I practice improvisation for quite a few years, the Brazilian music (choro) is one of my specialties. I also play in the French Flutes Orchestra, and I share with pleasure my practices and sound research such as multiphonic, flute and voice, circular breathing, whistle tones and other flatterzung! My name is Matteo and I am an Italian flutist and musicologist, based in Brussels since 2010. I graduated in modern flute at 'B. Marcello' Conservatory in Venice and at the Royal Conservatory in Brussels with Barthold Kuijken and Frank Theuns in the Baroque flute. I hold a master degree in Philosophy and Musicology as well.

I hold a PhD degree in music performance at Cardiff University, School of Music.

From 2013 till 2015, I have been teaching at the Venice Conservatory "B. Marcello", giving yearly lectures and seminaries on the historical repertoire for the flute. Since 2021, I have been appointed music curator of Coudenberg Sound Box Fest, a music festival which aims at celebrating the Belgian music heritage and takes place every year at the beautiful archeological site of the former Royal Palace of Brussels.

I recorded for Warner Classics & Erato, and a soloist for Arcana/Outhere Music ('La solitude à deux. Solos and duets by G. P. Telemann' in 2018 and 'Affect is no Crime. New music for old instruments' in 2019).

I regularly play with leading ensembles and orchestras such as Millennium Orchestra (Leonardo Garcia Alarcon), Vox Luminis (Lionel Meunier), Les Muffatti (Peter van Heyghen), Coro & Orchestra Ghislieri (Giulio Prandi), Le Concert d'Anvers (Bart van Reyn), B.O.X. I'm a flutist who just ended the Master in Antwerp Conservatory obtaining high distinction result and I have experience on teaching flute from debutants (children or adults) until preparing audition for students who want to enter a conservatory.
I also have experience on teaching solfège and for people interested on starting music (both flute and music theory). I can combine everything in one lesson.

The shinobue is a flute that is used in street music but also in more sophisticated artistic performances. Japanese music has developed its own conception of beauty. Learning this music is a way to enter Japanese culture!

Traditionally, Japanese music is learned orally through shoga (a song using onomatopoeia). During the course, you also experience this method and will learn several types of music.

I started the shinobue class 9 months ago. After several lessons, I mastered the basic techniques under Nozomi's patient teaching. I started playing several scores with the other students. I am a professional flutist with over 5 years of experience in teaching. I have worked with people aged 5 to 75 and taught in five different languages: English, German, Ukrainian, Polish, and French.
