About Me
Hi everyone! Gamze is speaking :)I was born and raised in Istanbul.Passionate about math and teaching since when I was 15.I was teaching to my friends when they have exams and seriously this helped me a lot to understand that I love to explain someting to someone and see the light after. I have been tutoring and teaching for 8 years in various settings – tutoring small and large groups, private individual tutoring, and teaching in rural, suburban, and urban classroom, home settings and online.
Education
For those of you who wants to know more about my background, here are my credentials:Bachelors degree in maths from Istanbul University, 2014.
Bachelors degree in Business from Anadolu University,2017.
Masters degree in maths from Milano University,2019.
Experience / Qualifications
Worked as a private tutor for exam preparation and some preperation centers.I am currently employed as a math coordinator at an international school in Istanbul. And teaching SAT Exam preparation and AP Calculus both AB and BC.I can teach IB& American and British Curriculum.
I think that the logic of private lessons should be tailored to the individual. Therefore, I aim to make it a much more productive lesson thanks to the road map and proficiency tests to be drawn in the first lesson.Together with that you will closely controlled by me via chat platform. So that if you have any questions outside of the lesson you can ask and I will remind you homeworks and etc.I am definitely here to support you!!
Course Description:
The SAT Prep course concentrates on SAT reading, vocabulary and writing skills along with math practice. The course includes practice in taking the SAT test, as well as strategies for the question types (sentence completion, vocabulary, critical reading, and writing – finding errors / revision). In the Spring Semester, the course will focus on the new SAT test, using Kaplan,Pearson,Black Book, Khan Academy online, and classroom reading, vocabulary, grammar lessons and practice tests.
Reading
The goal for reading in this class is to read college level material closely and critically in order to answer difficult questions about the text. The Reading Section for the SAT requires students to answer evidence-based questions about a challenging reading selection in a timed setting. The class will prepare and practice for these reading passages and questions.
Writing
The goal for writing in this class is to prepare for the optional essay section on the new SAT which will be required by some colleges. Learning to plan and respond in writing quickly will help students on the SAT Writing test as well as other exams with writing including AP exams, college exams, SAT subject tests, etc. The new essay is an analysis essay based on a piece of text, so we will discuss and practice writing literary and rhetorical analysis.
Math
The goal for math in this class is to practice the types of questions asked on the SAT test and to learn how to avoid the most common mistakes.

PRIVATE MATH CLASS WITH A PERSONALIZED METHODI am Cristopher, a math teacher in training, with experience in establishments such as Saint George's College and Gabriel González Videla High School. I am 23 years old, which makes me a more accessible teacher for my students. I know current trends, games, books, movies, and, in general, the students' tastes. I take advantage of this to "personalize" the learning process. The materials I use and the homework I assign will all be specifically for the student, considering their tastes, strengths, and weaknesses. The goal, in addition to getting good grades, which they will get, will be for the student to lose their fear of math, a fear that blocks learning and causes anxiety.
This way, students will be able to re-engage in mathematical learning through logical reasoning, critical thinking, and problem-solving.
I see mathematics as more than just a mechanical process of copying, memorizing, and repeating, but rather as a tool for developing as a human being and understanding the world around us, and it is this vision that I try to convey in my mathematics classes.
I use a survey (forms) to get to know the student a little better (prior to class), to find out how they like to learn, what they find easier, how they feel when they are in a math class, what their tastes and hobbies are, and I develop personalized material based on the responses obtained.

Specialized and Certified AS and A-Levels Tutor in Sequences and SeriesI am a specialized and certified AS and A-Levels tutor with extensive experience in teaching Sequences and Series, along with a strong emphasis on Calculus. My tutoring sessions are designed to provide in-depth knowledge and understanding of these crucial mathematical topics, helping students to master the material and excel in their exams.
Focus Areas in Sequences and Series
Binomial Expansion: I guide students through the principles of binomial expansion, helping them understand how to expand expressions of the form
(a+b)n
. We explore the Binomial Theorem in detail, ensuring that students can apply it effectively in problem-solving scenarios. By the end of our sessions, students will be able to expand binomials with confidence and accuracy.
Arithmetic Progressions (AP): Understanding arithmetic progressions is fundamental in mathematics. I provide comprehensive instruction on identifying and working with sequences where each term is derived by adding a constant. Students learn how to find the
nth term, the sum of the first
n terms, and how to apply these concepts to solve real-world problems.
Geometric Progressions (GP): I also specialize in geometric progressions, where each term is obtained by multiplying the previous term by a constant. My approach includes explaining key concepts such as the
nth term and the sum of a geometric series, both finite and infinite. We tackle a variety of problems to ensure a deep understanding of the subject.
Further Sequences and Series: Beyond the basics, I explore further topics in sequences and series, including convergence and divergence. This advanced understanding prepares students for higher-level mathematics and the challenges they may face in university studies.
Mastering Calculus
In addition to Sequences and Series, I offer expert guidance in Calculus, which is essential for success in AS and A-Levels. My focus here includes:
Differentiation: I help students understand the principles of differentiation, teaching them how to find derivatives and apply them to various functions. We work on techniques, such as the product and quotient rules, and explore applications of derivatives in real-world contexts.
Integration: Students learn the fundamentals of integration, including definite and indefinite integrals. I emphasize techniques such as substitution and integration by parts, ensuring that students can tackle a wide range of problems.
Application of Calculus: We explore how calculus is used in practical scenarios, including motion problems and areas under curves, to provide a holistic understanding of the subject.
Proven Approach to Learning
My proven approach focuses on solving past examination questions, which is crucial for familiarizing students with the exam format and types of questions they will encounter. I emphasize understanding core principles rather than rote memorization. This methodology not only boosts confidence but also ensures that students can apply their knowledge effectively in exams.
I believe that personalized feedback is vital for growth. Throughout our sessions, I provide constructive feedback and support, allowing students to identify their strengths and areas for improvement. This continuous feedback loop fosters a growth mindset, empowering students to embrace challenges and develop resilience.

Mathematics for Teenagers, also the combination of math, Logic and philosophyLet no one enter here by ignorance of geometry! This is what was written on the entry of Plato's academy! I enjoy teaching mathematics and Logic, and also designing learning roadmaps for teenagers. The times have changed, and this is the age of AI in learning objectives.
Math is love, take care!

MATHS lessons for IB, pre IB, MYP, IGCSE, and GCSE studentsI have worked for 6 years now with kids from international schools who were "hating" maths because the methods used by their IB teachers were too complicated and hard to understand.
I believe that no one is "not mathematical", we just have to find the way to approach the subject together; I have indeed a few teaching methods that can be adapted to a kids' needs, I believe every kid needs a different method to fully understand the subject.
I provide 3 types of lessons that represent 3 phases:
1. THEORY - Understanding the theory behind the exercises, this phase is the shortest since I believe that to fully understand maths you need to exercise.
2. EXERCISES - Doing exercises divided by subject we. just went through in the theory part.
3. PAST PAPERS - Going through past papers to "simulate" a potential exam.
Dividing the process in 3 phases has proven really effective in succeeding not only during the year but also at the final exams.
