About Me
I am Maxim, born and raised in Ostend, Belgium. After my studies at Ghent University, I completed a PhD in Literature (Spanish/Latin).
After working for one year at the University of Chicago, I moved to Barcelona in 2019, where I currently live with my Argentinian wife and one-year-old daughter Montse.
Teaching Spanish is a passion that I have been sharing with students through tutoring for years. I often notice that there is a great need to practice the theoretical knowledge acquired through conversations and that is exactly what I want to offer here. Of course, grammar or specific vocabulary can also be discussed in more depth, if desired. Specific themes are chosen based on the student's profile.
In addition, I am also passionate about Latin from post-classical periods (e.g. the Renaissance). I like to read Latin texts with students that are closer to today's world. The focus is initially on linear reading; then, grammatical or cultural aspects are possibly explored in more depth.

Be surprised by a varied offer. In this series of tutoring lessons I give tips to be able to read Latin texts fluently. Using a number of selected texts from post-classical periods (mainly the Renaissance), both prose and poetry, we approach Latin as a modern language.
