About Me

I have completed my LLB (Hons) in Law at the University of Surrey, with first-class honours, and I am currently finishing my LLM (postgraduate course) in Public International Law at UCL. Although Public International Law is currently my main focus, I also have experience working in Mental Health Law, as well as studying the following areas:
- 6 'core' Law modules (Contract Law, Criminal Law, Law of Tort, Public Law, EU Law, Property Law, Equity & Trusts Law).
- Public International Law.
- International Criminal Law.
- International Human Rights Law.
- International Humanitarian Law.
- Refugee Law.
- Medical Law.
- Mental Health Law.
- Law of Evidence.
- Environmental Law.

Along with this more in-depth knowledge, I also studied Law at both A-Level and AS-Level, which covered the general areas of the subject. As such I would be comfortable tutoring individuals with any level of existing knowledge.

I aim to create a relaxed atmosphere in which students are able to learn effectively in a way which suits their needs.

The content of the sessions will vary depending on the student; ranging from covering merely the content of the law, to a more detailed analysis that touches on conflicting arguments. The favoured structure to sessions would be:
- Discuss the fundamentals (i.e. what is the law?).
- Direct the student to further resources, with questions to answer (as is essential for a sufficient understanding, particularly at the higher levels).
- Discuss these resources and questions in the next session.
Of course, students can modify this structure if they feel this is not beneficial to them.

A standard module structure can be provided upon request, although this can be tailored to the student's studies or particular areas of interest.

Education

LLM in Public International Law, UCL (2019) - Grade TBC.
LLB in Law, University of Surrey (2018) - First Class Honours.
A-Level Law, Queen Mary's College (2013) - A.

Experience / Qualifications

Along with my above educational qualifications, I also have experience in tutoring A-Level and LLB Law for over a year now. I am happy to provide testimonials from my clients, upon request. I focus on a broad range of modules and also on essay writing and research skills more generally. If you require further information, then please contact me; I am more than happy to discuss your needs with you!

Law tutoring for students at MBO and HBO level
Many students have to take a legal course during their studies. Not equally easy for everyone. I would be happy to assist in obtaining a pass mark for these subjects. I am an experienced trainer in the legal field, and I have also had the opportunity to experience the practice. In addition, I have obtained both a legal and numerical background with university degrees in addition to my work. In these training courses we start with the jurisdiction, and then orientate ourselves on the situation by making a correct analysis of the circumstances. It is also possible to provide support with assignments or projects.

Francesca Niamh
International Law Tutor (International Criminal Law, International Humanitarian Law, Public International Law, Human Rights Law)
My knowledge of and experience with international law derives from my studies and my work. I graduated ‘cum laude’ from the Geneva Graduate Institute with an LLM in International Law and a specialisation in International Human Rights Law and International Humanitarian Law. Previously, I graduated ‘cum laude’ from The Hague University, with an LLB in International and European Law. I have extensive knowledge of the fields of international human rights law, international criminal law, international humanitarian law, law of international organisations, and public international law more broadly. I finished my studies only a couple of years ago, I can relate well to having to prepare for an exam or a paper, and enjoy sharing the tips that helped me improve and succeed. Knowing the different kinds of exams that law students need to prepare for and what is expected, allows me to tailor my approach to the classes, while ensuing you have a full-rounded grasp of the subject. I usually adopt the Socratic Method, ensuring an exchange and not a one-sided lesson. I am also keen to shape the classes to your needs and develop a lesson plan that works for you. I have worked at an International Court, a UN Agency, and am now working as a delegate negotiating resolutions at the United Nations in Geneva. I use International Law every day and bring a practical perspective of the use of international law to our lessons.

Malina
International Law Tutoring (Public International Law, International Humanitarian Law, International Criminal Law, Human Rights)
As a 'Cum Laude' and honors graduate of Columbia University and the University of Groningen in International and European Law I have extensive knowledge of these legal fields. I specialised in Public International Law, International Humanitarian Law, International Criminal Law, as well as International Human Rights Law. I give introductory classes in these legal fields as well as more advanced classes where we will also look at current developments and the interplay with other disciplines such as Politics or Diplomacy. Using the Socratic method I try to make my lessons as engaging as possible. This means that I will not simply lecture you but engage in a dialogue/debate with you in order to stimulate critical thinking. I am currently working at the United Nations Office in Geneva and thus have insights into how International Law works in reality. Depending on your needs, I give University-preparatory classes, exam-preparation classes for University students, or help with dissertations or writing/research projects. As I understand that each student has specific needs, I will tailor the lessons to you. Feel free to contact me and we can figure out a teaching plan together.

University-Level Tutoring in Public International Law: Theory and Practice
International Law is a fast-growing area of law in an increasingly globalised world. Taught by the Founder and Director of the World Moot on International Law and Animal Rights, this class combines Public International Law theory with practice. It taught through traditional lessons imparting substantive legal knowledge and legal skills training, including in the form of mooting exercises. We also work on techniques and strategies for assessments, and, to test the student's knowledge, engage in exercises in the form of mock assessments (essays and problem questions) that are graded by the tutor. It encompasses areas of PIL such as International Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law, International Criminal Law, and International Law and Armed Conflict.

Nicola
Undergraduate LLB Medical Law - can teach a module as a whole or can offer revision and reflective sessions
In this subject, we will explore legal and ethical concepts and dilemmas within medicine and healthcare. The course will introduce students to key issues governing the boundaries and obligations within healthcare. This is a dynamic area of law that is regularly the subject of public debate because of the morally contentious nature of many issues within healthcare. While statutes have been created to regulate some issues, such as abortion, other legal dilemmas have been determined by the courts, drawing from criminal, civil, public, and human rights law principles. The course examines how moral and ethical debates have influenced, or been influenced by, the law. Students will reflect critically on the relationship of morality and the law in relation to areas of conflict, such as autonomy v paternalism. We are all patients at some point in our lives, and so in addition to the academic, intellectual, and professional benefits of studying this area of law, students will gain an appreciation of their rights as a patient, and how the therapeutic obligations of health care professionals are regulated. This subject will be of specific interest to law undergraduates and healthcare and social care practitioners, in particular.
