Poetry for Poem Lovers and to learn Self Expression

In the modern world, the significance of poetry is overlooked. From Aristotle to Derrida (the range is not comprehensive), literary theory has maintained that a poem's power is measured in its affect. Throughout this course, our goal will not be to make inscrutable poetic analysis - though the first part of the lesson will be spent analysing word choice, meter, line length and spaces of an English poem written between pre-modernism and postmodernism. Rather, through our perusal of poetic form we will be able to ground our work, somewhat modestly, in the English poetic tradition. Before the first class you will send me some of your own work so I know how to build or refine aesthetic temperament. I have been writing poetry for ten years and two years ago I published a chapbook at a press with competitive standards, and I am currently working on a full-length collection. If you wish to take up poetry seriously, time is needed and an eye for detail is essential. I look forward to us broadening our aesthetic sensibilities together.

I taught Turkish to three people before. A Greek, an Arab and a German learned Turkish with me. They began to read Turkish poems and listen to songs. One of them even gives me song recommendations. You can too. You can learn language step by step. Turkish is a difficult language. I am aware. I'm not going to crush you under the grammatical walls. Step by step, I can prove how easily you can speak a language by speaking, singing, reading poetry. Let's try it.

Poetry is the Power and Conflict spec. Also, there will be tutoring on A Christmas Carol, An Inspector Calls and Macbeth. We will go through the material together, analyse the themes and characters and do exam practice. Practice makes perfect !

I am a widely published poet and experienced and knowledgeable teacher willing to give poetry classes at any level, whether you are struggling to write your first poem or are assembling a first collection. I specialise in teaching rap skills and lyric writing. If you enjoy rap music and would like to learn how to improve your technique then I am here to help you! I have many years of experience teaching, performing and recording my own music. I sing, rap, write lyrics and perform with a band. I can cover different styles including Hip Hop and Grime. We will also cover lyric writing where I can help you with your flows and technique to create your own original material. There is an option to get custom made beats to help you create your own original tracks. I really enjoy teaching and like to make the lessons challenging and fun.

I am a passionate English Literature student at the University of Kent with years of Creative Writing experience. I've studied writing at the University of Amsterdam, have written and directed my own play, and have been published by various student papers, zines and online publications. I'm seeking to offer support to up to First Year University students in English language and literature studies, as well as helping students develop their critical and creative voice in their writing. I can compliment their studies, develop their understanding of and engagement with their curriculums, and increase individuality and confidence in their work. I achieved an A* in my English Literature and an A in my English Language iGCSEs, and am on track for a First Class English Literature degree.

Welcome to the Spanish Poetry course, a linguistic and literary journey specially designed for adults and young people who wish to immerse themselves in the rich poetic tradition of Spain and deepen their knowledge of peninsular literature. In this course, we will delve into the vast and varied poetic production that has flourished in the Iberian Peninsula over the centuries. From medieval songs to innovative contemporary works, we will explore the voices of the most prominent Spanish poets who have left an indelible mark on the literary history of Spain. Throughout our classes, we will closely analyze the different styles, themes and literary movements that have characterized Spanish poetry over time. From the mystery of the Romancero to the depth of baroque poetry and the passion of modernism, we will immerse ourselves in the many facets of Spanish poetry, discovering how it has evolved and transformed over the centuries. Through readings, discussions and practical exercises, participants will have the opportunity to deepen their understanding of Spanish literature and develop their skills of critical analysis and aesthetic appreciation. Additionally, intercultural and linguistic dialogue will be encouraged among students, thus enriching the learning experience and promoting a deeper and broader understanding of Spain's rich literary heritage.

I am a South Korean poet and actor. I currently live in the Netherlands. Last year, I taught children at a Korean language school in Eindhoven. Because I was an actor, my Korean pronunciation is very accurate and can be of great help in developing your Korean conversation skills. Also, since I am a poet, I can also teach classes on Korean literature. In the Netherlands I make a living as a musician. So, it is possible to take classes to learn Korean while learning K-pop. I have over fifteen years experience performing professionally in all contexts- from Shakespeare (recently at the Globe with 'As You Like It') to Spoken Word. I also have lots of experience teaching poetry masterclasses and I have delivered these classes with various arts organisations including with The Poetry School and Southbank Centre. I teach beginners to advanced level and I'm currently writing my full legth poetry collection. My awards include Ledbury Poetry Prize 2021 (winner), Creative Future Writers' Award 2021 (silver) and Out-Spoken Prize for Poetry, 2023 (winner). My classes will be tailored to your needs and each workshop will be designed specfically to help you in areas that you would like to improve and develop. We will work with your specific interests and lessons will centre different areas including but not limited to; poetic form and structure, contemporary poetry and free verse, finding you poetic voice, the poetic line, rhyme, ways to get started, titles, and editing. In terms of spoken word- I can teach you perfromance technique and help you craft brilliant spoken word pieces that you can share with audiences far and wide! My classes are also focsed on supporting anyone with access needs including learning differences such as dyslexia or ADHD.
