There are many ways to create a so-called "realistic" oil painting. And there are many visual tools that an artist can use to make a beautiful visual statement. Whether using thick impastos, thin washes of solvent-based color, bodied glazes, or mixed media elements, each technique can yield an engaging visual experience. Painting is, after all, a means of communication. In this course, we will begin with the basic ideas and techniques for drawing and painting forms as the eye sees them. You will learn every stage for producing aesthetically pleasing and technically strong oil paintings. We will discuss concepts and ideas for painting, developing different studies, stretching the canvas, line drawing, tonal lay-in, dead-coloring (or color block-in), and modeling the forms (1st painting, 2nd painting, and finishing). We will also cover the techniques of alla prima or premier coup (direct painting in one pass). We will also study the formal methods of composition, different kinds of perspectives, paint surface and paint quality (facture), and proportions. And, of course, we will discuss the use of varnishes, including the final picture varnish. Stay calm and confident if some of these terms are new to you. We will adapt the lessons for each artist. I will help you to learn, understand, and perform each step of the painting process. Whether you are a beginner, intermediate, or advanced painter: there is something for you!

You don’t have to be a professional artist to have the right to create. Spontaneous drawing doesn’t require a license to draw a line. We have our own well of images inside us which can be re-activated. But how? To draw spontaneously, a practical method, offering suggestions and advice, allow us to overcome the anxiety of the blank page.

During the classes you will learn about the art of building through drawing, painting, engraving and sculpting. By drawing you will learn the effect of a monument according to its place, for drawing appears to be the best means of developing intelligence and judgment. You will also learn about orientation, light and shade. You will inscribe in your mind the methods used by the masters to produce the desired effect on a given place under particular conditions. You will analyse the fundamental principles, the rules of proportion, those gentle relationships between the parts and the whole, which the ancients gave to the orders in ancient buildings, to those of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. To communicate your thoughts clearly, to record your observations and to find the reason for all things, you will draw, paint and engrave from nature. Drawing is a language, a means of expression and communication, an art that complements and is indispensable to all professions, such as speaking and writing. I am a visual artist born in Barcelona, settled in Belgium since 2017. As an artist I have accumulated experience for the last 25 years. I am graduated with an Academic Bachelor in Fine Arts in the University of Barcelona and graduated as a Master in Visual Arts at Sint Lucas School of Arts in Antwerpen. I am specialised in painting, drawing, experimental films, installations, language, sound and curating. In other words, I am a multidisciplinary artist. I understand the artistic practice as a way to understand ourselves and the situations which surrounds us. In my classes I don't teach how to do Art, but as how to say something through your artistic work. With me you can work independently, with a coach who will challenge you with some assignments and giving feedback to your personal concerns. In addition, you will learn how to work with several mediums, preparing your own material: paintings, canvases, and so on. You will not only receive individual coaching but as encourage you to look other artists or take into account other references connected with your concerns. Finding, discussing and retaking solutions together are the core of my classes.

Figure drawing isn't easy; it requires precision and practice. You must learn the basics of figure drawing to grow your skills. That is why having a strong understanding and practice of your basics is incredibly difficult and important. The basics include the correct method of drawing lines and circles, tips on understanding the anatomically correct proportions of the human body, and the practice of drawing what you see. This is the most challenging aspect of figure drawing, and it requires practice to simply put what you see on paper. It might seem tedious and somewhat useless, but from my experience, it was the foundation I wish someone had taught me. These skills aren't only used for figure drawing, but also for your other drawing endeavors. The class session will entail a step-by-step program based on your performance and progress when accomplishing each skill. I will guide you through a hands-on process to master each lesson. This is meant to curate an environment where you feel accomplished and for you to make mistakes and learn from them.

This course is an in-depth look into drawing. It is intended for students with some drawing experience as a way for them to build upon existing skills, but students of all levels are welcome. We will go over line, form, and structure, beginning with contour line drawings and eventually building up to the student creating their own pieces. We will discuss figurative and non-representational works, as well as how we can utilize different methods of drawing to convey different feelings and emotions.

I teach (one-on-one) in my studio and online(internationally)covering painting and drawing techniques for beginners, advanced students, and aspiring art school applicants. I have a series of significant artistic achievements, having been awarded in the most prestigious international figurative art competitions—competitions that value study, hard work, and knowledge. I have studied art throughout my life and I always strive to reach a high level of performance, with the goal of passing on everything I have learned at the highest standard. Throughout my career, I have helped many individuals push their limits and improve their artistic techniques—some doing it as a hobby, others achieving exceptional results in the entrance exams for art and architecture universities. These courses are personalized for any level and age, following a systematic process. Topics include: portraiture, the human figure, anatomy, still life, landscapes, the science of light and shadow, drawing/painting techniques, color theory, perspective, design, etc. I am also open to collaborations for workshops in any city—art classes on various themes such as classical and realistic, impressionist, or even modern approaches, all based on principles learned from Old Masters’ techniques. These are systems and procedures taught only in Florence, where I also studied for a period. These techniques are not commonly known or practiced in schools in Romania.
