Hello! I've been teaching continuously for over 10 years, and I'd like to explain what you can expect from a class with me. Personalized approach: The most important thing is to know what you want to achieve. I will tailor the lessons to your needs: playing for pleasure at home is not the same as preparing for entrance exams (although always with the same rigor). Your goals will influence the methodology, the organization of your studies, the repertoire, and so on. Relaxed (but rigorous) environment: Once you've defined your goals, classes will be dynamic and pressure-free. Note! "Relaxed" doesn't mean undemanding; we'll just avoid military methods—especially given my personality and sense of humor. Music, not just notes: My methods are very dynamic, with a special emphasis on hearing and musicality. No "read, play, and turn the page." I avoid approaches obsessed with reading sheet music without memorizing, listening, or understanding what is being played. I want you to own your performance and make artistic decisions. Warning! I might even make you sing. No stylistic barriers: Thanks to my training in Jazz and Modern Music, I give equal importance to all genres. Hi, my name is Jim. I'm an electronic music producer with a Master’s degree in Music from the Fontys Academy of Arts (Rockacademie) in Tilburg, Netherlands. For me, making music is about building the skills and mindset to bring creative ideas to life and I’m passionate about helping others do the same. As Malvae, I have written, sung, produced, mixed, and performed my own music, reaching #17 in the Spotify Viral 50 charts in the USA, gathering millions of streams, and featuring in films like the upcoming documentary King of the Streets and a Netflix series. One of the highlights of my artistic journey was the Amazonas Project, where I traveled deep into the Amazon rainforest to record and transform natural sounds into a full-length concept album, blending storytelling, sound design, and music into a single experience. I had the honour of headlining my own show at Melkweg Amsterdam, one of the Netherlands' most iconic venues, and curated my own events while performing immersive, self-built live sets with visuals. I’ve also taught technical music skills at professional facilities such as Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum. Music has taken me to places I never imagined, from the Amazon rainforest to some of the most iconic stages and I'm excited to help you build your own creative path. In my lessons, I offer structured, personalised education in music production, composition, sound design, mixing, mastering, and live performance. My own musical path often started by recording sounds from my travels around the world and blending them with synthesizers and my voice. I graduated with honors studying jazz performance with classical composition as a side subject from New England Conservatory (Boston). I have been performing, touring and teaching around the world: New York, Washington DC, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Poland, and more! I have grown up with educaiton both in jazz and classical practices, and therefore am very versatile and fluent with both worlds which i believe creates a unique and interesting perspective for approaching music.
