Depending on the objectives and the level of the person, the work may focus on rhythm, work on the ear, harmony (chords, theory), improvisation (solos, having fun with chords, improvising a melody on chords), learning a piece (jazz standard or more recent piece). Scores can be brought, even if I prefer to favor an oral approach for the lessons. Finally, my classes do not follow a particular protocol. Course content will not be predefined in advance. Thus there will be no "work to do" or work imposed on the person. We can very well see a piece and the following week see something else. The rhythm and desires of the student are therefore the priority. My role will be to help him as much as possible and to give him the necessary keys to achieve his personal goals.
