Filmmaking for Beginners: A Class From Script to Screen

How to prepare for a media interview? What means should be used to fight his fear of the camera and improve his image? How to present yourself and your project in front of a camera? In short, several objectives: ◾ Confront your shyness in front of the microphone/camera. ◾ Understand his speech and diction. ◾ Tame the media environment (radio/tv). ◾ Become familiar with your image and voice. ◾ Manage your speaking time. Through exercises (diction, voice, presence, breathing, presentations, time management), role plays, simulated interviews and familiarization with their image and voice, participants evolve at their own pace within a framework flexible teaching. I teach Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer, from beginner to advanced. In the beginner and intermediate courses, all the important basics are covered and practiced using practical applications. The advanced courses go into finer details, such as advanced editing techniques or shed light on specific processes such as proxy workflows or colour management. Structure: The technical lessons are structured in 1 hour modules, using practical examples and allow time for experimentation and questions. I also teach editing theory and creative strategies across many different genres and styles. These are less structured and are tailored to specific needs. Open Sessions are also possible, where you may bring along a personal project in Premiere or Avid and I will offer you technical assistance, feedback or tips.

In this class, you will learn about the intersections of film and philosophy in a way that will prepare you to excel in college-level film studies courses. If a college course mentions being an introduction to “film studies” or “film theory”, then you can imagine this as the Apprentus equivalent of that!
