Hi! I'm Sohyeon! And my name is also Eleonor in French, and that's the name I chose when I started learning French!

I also learned French when I entered university, purely out of curiosity. And even now, I'm still working to improve my French as much as possible in everyday life whenever I can! ;)

Actually, the biggest reason I learned French was thanks to Mika! Do you know Mika? Mika, who was on "The Voice France"!

Perhaps there will be many who want to learn Korean because of our Korean culture, just as I wanted to learn French thanks to MIKA, but in the end I got deeply involved with the food and education of France! Isn't that right?

I LOVE France and during the course, given my love for France and South Korea, there must be lots of things we can share together!

I had been teaching Korean from 2021 until now, but at the beginning, I started teaching French to Korean students!
So I can understand your difficulties, which may be due to the difference in structure and pronunciation!

I understand very well, especially the difficulties faced by Francophone students! Because until now, most of my students were French! It seems I'm rather an expert when it comes to French students, haha.

I have always tried to change the course format in relation to the difficulties of the students especially, so I will always try to listen to you and apply other methods that can help you learn Korean more easily!

As you may be starting after adolescence, and not very early like children who learn English!
So I think that to learn the language well after you've fully grown up, you need to learn with a teacher who is familiar with these kinds of difficulties you have after learning several languages and who enjoys learning the language!
Because that's what I felt, especially while learning other languages since university!
In learning them, I recognized in myself several ways that one must do, at least when one wants to learn them well!

Most of you might not have the chance to meet native Koreans in real life, and it's also difficult to become friends with them (we're a bit shy)!
I understand that very well, and I too am learning Russian and Chinese on my own, and I know the best way to learn a language is to communicate with people in real life and regularly!
So, to solve this kind of problem, during and outside of class I will try to become your friend who can communicate with you in Korean whenever you want!

Why should learning an Asian language, especially Korean or Japanese, be difficult and complicated simply because the structure of the language is the complete opposite of French?

And why are students learning Korean IN FRENCH when I HATED learning English or French even in Korean! (I always avoided environments where I had to receive information in my native language)

Teaching Korean for 5 years to students around the world who mainly speak French and English makes me ask myself these questions!

🥸And I started thinking, what could I do to help my students better understand Korean and learn Korean easily?

🥸How could I help them stop thinking in French?

🥸And how could I help them retain so much grammar and vocabulary that exists when learning Korean?

Aren't these questions you've asked yourself while learning Korean, or that you've heard from people who gave up learning Korean for these reasons?

And you, have you ever had these kinds of doubts?

🥸You want to learn Korean... but you're wondering if you'll really have the time to revise and study?

🥸With a busy schedule, will you still be able to progress and speak more easily?

🥸When you meet Koreans, will you be able to understand their pronunciation (and their speaking rate)?

🥸Is there a fun way to learn Korean that isn't boring?

🥸Are you a little worried about Korean grammar: will you be able to understand it without feeling lost?

Rest assured, you are not the only one asking these questions.
We'll move forward step by step, at your own pace, and you'll see: Korean becomes much simpler when you practice it in real life.

To properly resolve these issues, you should click on my profile!

From now on you will see THE KOREAN COURSE with a teacher whose teaching methods will amaze you.
That you could speak and understand Korean much better than before,
That you could learn this language like your native mango
even WITHOUT TRANSLATING INTO FRENCH!

What level are you in?

I'm a beginner! (0 base - 1 to 2 years old)

I'm learning Korean for the very first time!
I'm scared to start learning a new language!
Could I really learn Korean well?

🥸Don't be afraid! I'm sure you'll be able to handle all the difficulties you'll face with me!

Q. How so?

🥸You will learn Korean the way babies learn their mother tongue, and little by little, by making longer and longer sentences, you will understand everything!

But what if I don't understand very well since you don't speak French during the lesson?

🥸If needed, I will explain in French, but I will try my best to help you understand everything I say in Korean!

🥸And we're going to do a little quiz to check if you remember what we saw during the last lesson!
🩷In fact, all the little quizzes are hidden throughout the course, and you might not even realize it!

Whoops! This isn't just a one-time thing! We're going to repeat the same thing at least 10 times! And the result... even if I don't say it, you can already see it, right?

I have already learned Korean and I am at an intermediate or advanced level! (2 to 5 years minimum)

🥸Now is the level where you can learn Korean much more easily as you are already very used to learning words and grammar by heart, and finding the grammar rule is not a problem!

🥸So now is the level where you need to improve your ability to use many grammars and vocabulary!
So, the solution is always repetition!

You're going to read scriptures, but only once? No way, that's never possible in my class!

You will also learn vocabulary and grammar in context, not just in isolation!

So, don't we have time for the oral exam?

🥸BUT YES, it's the most important part when learning a language!
Based on what we have learned, we are guaranteed to have time to discuss different situations!

I studied Korean for quite a while, but I still have difficulty with the pronunciation! Especially since my Korean friends don't understand me, and I can't understand them anymore!

🥸It's simply a matter of pronunciation. If you don't pronounce correctly, you can't even understand others. And if you don't understand the rules of pronunciation, or if you pronounce incorrectly, you think people are speaking too fast, even if everything they're saying is words you know! So we're going to learn all these rules to pronounce correctly and understand well! But if you've already taken my courses from the basic level, you won't have this kind of problem.

Uhhh, but I just want to learn Korean for my trip!

🥸What will we need for the trip?
How to read the Korean alphabet
Basic greetings
Ordering or asking in a restaurant, cafe or shop

🥸Afterwards you can ask me what you want to learn before traveling!

And if you want to experience more of Korea, speaking Korean well will also allow you to discover the real Korean culture with real communication!
(Since I was in France, I never felt that the French, even Parisians, were mean to foreigners because I could speak French.)

And what about other needs?
🥸I would like to focus more on the general courses and the course for travelers!
🥸I would like to guarantee the quality of each course, initially I focus on these two courses, and afterwards I will expand them more and more, but before that if you need anything, don't hesitate to contact me!

Wow! That was really long! Thank you so much for reading my presentation this far, and are you ready for the special offer?

Learn Korean on my YouTube channel!
Free Korean conversation group with other students every Wednesday
(And why not form a group so you can take the course together?)
The offline Korean conversation meeting if you are in Korea once every two weeks
Exchange messages to practice Korean every day on WhatsApp!

I was fortunate enough, while teaching Korean, to create real bonds with many students. Some have even become very good friends whom I continue to see regularly since I've been living in France.

And besides, I didn't learn languages solely "in class" either. I've always been surrounded by friends, and I'd say that 80% of my English and French, I learned simply by spending time with them. So I'd love to be your tutor, of course... but also someone you feel comfortable with, like a friend 🩷

Are you ready to start the course with me?

About Me
At the end of 2019, I had just finished university, and I was attending acting school to keep nurturing my dream.

Going to acting school while also working a full-time job was absolutely not easy. It was also a time when I still needed to improve my skills in acting, singing, and dancing. So, in order to focus more on my acting classes, I decided to quit my job.

Around that time, I heard that a British friend I had met in Le Mans, France, was coming to Korea. He said he was coming to teach English. I was really happy to hear the news, and we met up a few times and had a great time together. Then one day, he said to me:
“What if you tried teaching Korean too? I’m looking for a teacher to learn Korean... and I don’t even speak English better than you do!”

At first, I wondered whether I was really capable of it. But very quickly, a memory came back to me: during my four years at university, I had spent a lot of time with French friends who had come to Korea as exchange students. We did language exchanges, and I regularly helped them—working with them so they could learn Korean in a more structured and consistent way. I thought that maybe I could give it a try.

I bought Korean textbooks and built my lessons around them. And after waiting a little while, I welcomed my first student.

That student really liked me, and they were very smart. They didn’t take lessons on a strictly regular schedule, but they would often message me, very consistently, to say they really wanted to take classes again. They were a very sincere, pure-hearted young student.

After that, more and more students started looking for my lessons.

Then COVID began. Many people ended up staying at home, and many wanted to use that time to learn something new. Fortunately, I was able to ride that wave and meet many students. And I think that thanks to them, I also got through that period without too much difficulty—without feeling too lonely... and even feeling happy at times.

In Korea, because I taught American and French students, my daily rhythm completely flipped: my days and nights were constantly changing.

And I’m an extremely ambitious person. That overflowing ambition didn’t only affect the quality of my classes—it also spilled over onto my students. I wanted them to learn Korean quickly, joyfully, and without stress.

When I was learning singing, I had once studied with a teacher who was so strict that I eventually became afraid to sing. It’s paradoxical, because singing is exactly what I want to devote my life to... yet at that time, I was afraid to let a sound come out of my mouth. That period also made me realize how profoundly encouragement and praise can change someone.

At first, anyone can be bad at something. For some people, being pushed and “shaken up” works well, but for others, pressure just creates stress—and they can’t even show what they’re capable of. I was completely in that second category. The more I was praised, the more I wanted to do better, the more ambitious I became. And I’m someone who truly enjoys observing my own transformation.

So with everything I had learned, I wanted to encourage my students and give them confidence. But just as not everything in life goes the way we want, it wasn’t always smooth. My students had their own daily lives, and sometimes they couldn’t make separate time to study.

I could understand that. Still, anything that didn’t reach the level I hoped for became a source of stress for me. I always tried my best not to show it. I even asked other Korean teachers for advice, but I realized it was mostly a personality issue. Other teachers told me that even if their students didn’t memorize what was taught very well, it didn’t bother them at all. But for me, it was the opposite: I strongly wished that my students would truly retain what I taught and memorize it. And when I saw that revision wasn’t happening, I think it stressed me out a lot.

Also, because I’m quite introverted, having to meet many students in a single day was stressful too. Teaching itself already required a lot of energy, but communicating with students also took a lot (especially because once we became closer, “chat time” would start during class). Of course, I loved all those moments with my students, and I was deeply grateful for the energy and effort they put into my lessons and their studying.

To understand them better, I even started learning Russian. Since the alphabet is completely different, memorization took at least twice as long. And yet, my students kept trying to translate Korean into their own language.

And that was the core problem:
the way Korean expresses things and its grammar are very different from English or French—sometimes so different they’re impossible to line up. Korean is the opposite of English and French. And if you try to speak Korean while thinking with French/English grammar in your head, you just end up with a headache... and, in the end, you can’t produce a correct sentence.

While I was thinking about how to help my students overcome all these difficulties, the long COVID period was finally coming to an end.

I wanted to refocus on everything I had wanted to do: acting, dancing, and singing. And all the energy I had spent during COVID went past zero—into the negatives. I temporarily developed symptoms of social anxiety.

So I stopped teaching for a while. But I’m not someone who can ever truly let go of what I’ve started. Even during that break, I kept thinking that I wanted to keep developing and improving my Korean classes.

During that resting period, I started learning new languages again: Russian, and then Thai. And as I learned them, I could clearly feel “how” a language should be learned. And I thought: I need to apply this exactly to my Korean lessons.

I threw away all the books that taught Korean only in a traditional, classical way.

To be honest, the “classic” method of teaching Korean is not even 50 years old. And we can’t even be sure that the professors who created those textbooks truly learned another language through lived experience. Yet to teach well, you have to first understand how language learning actually works... and I’m not even sure they can guarantee that.

I also don’t know whether they really understand, the way singers do, all the organs involved in producing sound. I’ve sung my whole life, and I’ve been interested in many genres: K-pop, pop music, opera, and more.

Each country has a different way of placing the voice when speaking. That’s why each language has its own distinct “color.” And in a way, I was very lucky: I love learning languages, and I’ve always sung. So I threw away the books and started building my own curriculum from scratch, step by step.

Sometimes I referred to Korean grammar books, but fundamentally I drew inspiration from languages I was learning myself—and from languages with a long history of being taught to foreigners. In those books, grammar is never explained at length. Never. And the longest sections are always conversation and reading.

Then, I wanted this course to work for people who don’t have time to review in daily life, and also for children who have shorter attention spans and struggle to review consistently.

And finally, every language has natural sound linking (liaisons, sounds that connect). Voice placement differs from language to language, and that change actually helps you pronounce the sounds of that language more easily. By practicing and understanding these links more naturally, I want to remove the gap between the Korean you “learn” and the Korean that is actually used—so that when you listen to native speakers, you don’t feel a mismatch between what you studied and what you hear in real life. And you will come to understand all of this naturally during the lessons, without heavy explanations—by grasping it with your body and your ear through practice.

I still need to work more and create much more material, that’s true. But up to this point, this is what you will be able to gain by taking my classes with me.
