I'm an Italian expat living in Gent and I offer Italian grammar and conversation lessons with a focus on culture and Italian media! I organise taylor-made lessons to fit every student's needs. We can practice grammar, learn correct pronunciation, learn more about the culture or practice useful sentences to prepare you for your next trip to Italy!

I studied and lived (mostly) in Italy until I was 20 years old, then I moved to Copenhagen to continue my education. I am an Italian native speaker, and I use English in my daily personal and working life. Talking to someone is the best way you can practice new languages. When I was a teenager I moved to Canada for six months to learn English, and even if I struggled at the beginning, pushing myself to have crooked conversation with friends was the perfect way to start mastering the language. I am an Italian student at Ugent. I give Italian lessons for those who want to learn the basics of the language (grammar, syntax) or improve conversation (diction, vocabulary, ways of speaking), listening and writing. The course is for all levels, I try to customize the teaching method according to the needs and level of the student. I also try to do a very conservative practical course on daily life to allow the student to get to an elementary conversation as soon as possible. If the student likes to learn about Italian culture, we can also talk about art, literature, cinema, music, gastronomic culture, Italian traditions, habits and customs and obviously also topics of interest to the student.

No prior knowledge or course material is required. During the first lesson, an oral assessment of the knowledge of the language will be conducted and a basic study path will be planned.

Diction is the art of making what we sing clear to our listeners. This online Italian Diction course offers a comprehensive introduction to the pronunciation, articulation, and expressive delivery of sung Italian, tailored specifically for singers, voice teachers, and choral directors. Through the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA), students will develop a clear understanding of Italian vowels, consonants, diphthongs, and stress patterns commonly found in art song and operatic repertoire. I have qualifications and experience teaching at different levels and in different contexts. I can help the student to improve the oral, written, and comprehension skills. Most important is that each course is based on the needs, interests and availability of the student. - The method is mainly what is called communicative, aimed at stimulating the student to speak immediately and put the focus on the functional aspect of the language. For beginners, I usually follow a specific program, I prepare a course and for each lesson I send students the files that I scan from the various books. Also the lessons can be essentially developed as conversations on specific subjects.

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.
