WORK EXPERIENCE
I worked in Portugal as a Qualified Teacher for 25 years and as a lawyer for 20 years.
In Portugal I taught different subjects: Portuguese (all levels); French (beginners for years 5 and 6); Economics (years 10 and 11); Political Economics (years 10, 11 and 12); Law (years 10 and 11) and Technological Education and IT (Years 7 to 9).

In United Kingdom I worked as a Portuguese Teacher for Cactus Language Ltd for 8 years. I worked as a translator/interpreter for 5 years. I translated and interpreted Portuguese – English and vice versa; Portuguese – French and vice versa and French – English and vice versa.
I used to teach Portuguese in small groups, between ages 5 to 7; 7 to 9 and 9 to 12. The most part of the children were Portuguese whose parents did not want they forget their mother tongue.
I supported some Portuguese people in some lawyers’ offices about Portuguese law issues, such as family law, work law and properties registered law.

In Dublin, I worked as a teacher between 2014 and 2016. I taught Portuguese and French. I taught also IT and Decorative Arts.
I supported children between 5 to 12 years old in Counselling groups.
I supported some Portuguese citizens in private lawyers’ offices and I gave them some general advice relating how to solve some Portuguese issues. Basically, the areas were about Human Rights, Criminal Law, Work Law and Properties’ register (House and land).

In Netherlands, I teach Portuguese in International School of Amsterdam and I teach Portuguese, French and Decorative Arts, including several techniques of Art & Craft at Guus Kieft School. Both schools are located in Amstelveen. I teach also French in International Business School The Hague and Portuguese in Taal tall Centrum. Both schools are situated in Den Haag.

Oi Tudo bem? My name is Marcelo and I am from São Paulo.

I teach Portuguese and Brazilian Portuguese in The Hague and Rotterdam. Fortunately, I can combine my university studies and 23 years of practical teaching experience in such a way that the lessons are well-founded and stimulating.

I have lived and studied in Brazil and Portugal (Coimbra), so I am a native speaker, with a lot of knowledge of the associated culture. By twist of fate, I am also bilingual, so I can explain grammar in Dutch and vice versa. My training is focused on speaking skills.

For years I also gave business training at two very well-known language schools, so I know how to transfer a lot of knowledge in a short time. As a student you will feel this immediately from the first lesson.

Learning Portuguese for business or urgently (within 10 working days) is also possible. I have a Chamber of Commerce and VAT number.

I have a lot of experience teaching lessons via Teams of Whereby (Whereby is more professional and European), even before the crisis because I also teach students in other countries.

For virtual lessons, you will receive a transcript of the lesson by email after the lesson. Classes at my home are also possible with 6 feet of distance and good circulation.

My lessons are very structured and step by step. In addition, I always explain the 'why' of a grammatical topic, which creates a link that also works better for memory and makes the lesson more interesting.

Because I am so results-oriented, I try to gently guide trainees up the stairs to full speaking skills and my job is to make the lessons as educational and attractive as possible.

Although I am a trained philosophy teacher for secondary students, I have shifted my focus to tutoring English and Portuguese language learners. My goal is to provide dynamic classes that allow students to use functional language in real-world ways, but each class can be tailor-made to the individual's needs. I use Cambridge materials for my English classes, in addition to real-world texts and videos, to train students on grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary.
