From 35.89 £ /h
Whether you're a trade or finance professional or a language enthusiast captivated by Cantonese culture and cuisine, my lessons are thoughtfully structured to meet your needs. Together, we'll explore everything from speaking and reading to mastering idioms and perfecting pronunciation, all enriched with intriguing cultural and historical insights. Each session blends practical skills with engaging content, carefully tailored to your learning goals—whether you’re just starting or advancing your skills.
For Beginners: Start with the essentials—about ten characters per class. You'll quickly read simple sentences without feeling overwhelmed. By lesson 10, you'll tackle short Chengyu (proverb) stories. Yes, drills are necessary, but pop quizzes and fun homework keep it engaging and effective.
After 20 Lessons: You'll know a few hundred characters and handle basic conversations. Practice everyday scenarios, like ordering food or giving directions, to build confidence and real-world skills.
Advanced Learners: Expect interactive discussions, grammar finesse, and pronunciation tweaks. Explore topics like stories, news, or movie clips, making language alive and authentic. Mistakes? Bring them on—they're key to growth.
I focus on fostering independence so you can continue learning beyond our sessions. Drawing from my multilingual background (Cantonese, English, French), I create connections across languages to enhance your journey.
With materials ranging from textbooks to movies, every lesson is rich, relevant, and fun. Ready to begin your language adventure? Let’s go! 🌟

About Me
Hello! I’m a native Chinese speaker from Southern China, fluent in both Mandarin and Cantonese. My educational journey has taken me to English-speaking countries like the U.S. and Ireland, and I also spent an unforgettable year in Paris studying Philosophy and cinema—entirely in French. With a passion for languages, I love connecting with native speakers and exploring how different cultures express universal ideas through their unique linguistic lenses. To me, learning a new language isn’t just about learning new words—it’s about unlocking an entire world of art, music, cuisine, and film, offering endless inspiration and discovery.
My interests in philosophy, literature, history, and the arts naturally shape what I read and how I approach learning. Over the years, I’ve studied at language institutes in Boston, Paris, and Dublin, where I not only honed my language skills but also gained firsthand experience with the joys and challenges of language learning. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for etymology and equipped me with effective strategies to help learners make meaningful and swift progress in their language journey.

Experience / Qualifications
I began my teaching journey as a volunteer in Boston, introducing elementary students to the joys (and challenges!) of basic Chinese. After earning my Master’s in Philosophy, I returned to China in 2019, where I dived into teaching English academic writing and IELTS at a university. From there, I moved on to private training centers in Shenzhen, tutoring students from international schools like BASIS and Harrow and picking up some amusing stories along the way.
Over the years, I’ve worked with students of all kinds—young bookworms mastering their ABCs, ambitious high schoolers cracking TOEFL/IELTS, and college students wrestling with academic papers. Lately, I’ve been sharing my love of Mandarin and Cantonese with online learners from around the world. For me, teaching is about discovery—every student has their own spark, and my goal is to light it. Whether it’s solving a tricky grammar problem or building confidence in conversation, I find immense joy in guiding my students to success.
