Hello! This year I obtained my Master's degree in violin at LUCA School of Arts Campus Lemmens under Lei Wang and am now starting my adventure as a professional violinist. I have been giving private lessons for six years now and hope to teach more this coming academic year than was previously compatible with my studies. In my lessons, I find it most important that students have fun and feel comfortable in their own skin. In my opinion, this is an essential prerequisite for continuous motivation to learn technically and musically, with a focus on a pace that feels right for the student. My teaching method varies greatly per student because I try to adapt each lesson to what suits the student best and what they need at a particular moment in the lesson. Besides being a musician at heart, I also have a strong interest in psychology. Consequently, over the past few years during my violin studies, I have taken a number of courses annually in the psychology program at KU Leuven. I use the knowledge I gained there to reflect on my educational practice as a violin teacher and to create a safe space for my students in which they can develop freely as musicians and as people.
I look forward to meeting you! If you have any questions, please feel free to let me know.

About Me
Hello! I'm Johanna, a professional violinist from Leuven.

When I was four years old, I told my parents that I wanted to learn to play the violin. Soon after, we picked up my first rental violin, and I've never stopped playing since!

In my lessons, the most important thing to me is that my students are enthusiastic and genuinely motivated to learn the violin. When that enthusiasm is there, I truly believe that anyone can learn to play an instrument.

I also place great importance on teaching a solid technical foundation, but always at each student's own pace, so that their enjoyment and motivation never suffer.

If you have any questions, big or small, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'd be delighted to help!

Experience / Qualifications
I have six years of experience teaching private violin lessons. I started teaching because I grew up taking private lessons myself and firmly believe that they offer many valuable opportunities that are often difficult to provide within the regular music school system.

In addition to my private teaching, I have worked a few times as a substitute violin teacher at the Music Academy of Borgerhout. I thoroughly enjoyed teaching a wider variety of students at different levels, as it provided both challenge and variety. However, I quickly realised that I often wanted to do much more with my students than the limited lesson time allowed—and they were usually just as eager. This is one of the main reasons why I have chosen to focus primarily on private teaching, where both the student and I have the freedom to tailor each lesson to the individual's needs, interests, and goals.

I have a great passion for Baroque music and have been studying Baroque violin with Ann Cnop for the past six years. I also wrote my master's thesis on the historical development of violin bows, and for my final performance examination I performed using several historical bows. Students with an interest in historically informed performance are therefore especially welcome! Of course, there's no need to worry if this isn't your area of interest—in my lessons, I always adapt the content as much as possible to each student's own interests and aspirations.

During my studies, I also struggled with a wrist injury for several years and underwent multiple surgeries. This experience taught me a great deal about injuries with musicians and how to prevent them, a topic I also explored in my bachelor's research paper. As a result, my teaching places a strong emphasis on healthy, relaxed playing technique, and I do my best to help students develop habits that reduce the risk of injury while allowing them to play comfortably and confidently.

DRIVEN AND DIVERSE VIOLIN TEACHER | As a violin teacher, I teach in a way that focuses on the pleasure of the student when playing their instrument. For this I turn, for example, to the use of different music styles (classical, film music, pop, Balkan ...), improvisation, modern technologies and ensemble playing.
I myself am an enthusiastic violinist who is constantly looking for novelties on the violin. I strive to search for sound, texture, and musical experiments. This is something that I want to pass on to my students. I want to provoke their curiosity about all the possibilities of the violin.
I have already gained several years of experience as a violin teacher. This within the DKO, various JMAs and private.

Hi! I'm Aitana, a professional violinist and currently based in Leuven.

I started playing the violin when I was 4 years old, and since then music has been a big part of my life. I studied violin at a higher-education level in Spain and Belgium, and I recently completed my Master's Degree in Violin Performance at LUCA School of Arts in Leuven, graduating Cum Laude. I have also performed with different orchestras and musical projects in Belgium and abroad.

I have experience teaching violin to children, beginners and students who already have some experience with the instrument. I also enjoy helping students with music theory, reading music, rhythm and ear training.

For me, learning an instrument should be more than just practicing the right notes. Of course, technique is important, but I also want my students to understand the music, feel comfortable with the instrument and, most importantly, enjoy playing it!

I always try to adapt my lessons to the student. Some people learn better through games and practical exercises, while others prefer to understand exactly how and why something works. We can also choose music together depending on your interests.

Whether you are starting from scratch, learning violin for fun, preparing for an exam or audition, or simply looking to improve your playing, I would be happy to help you.

No previous experience is needed. Just bring your curiosity and your love for music!
