Interested in learning a martial art?

The Seishi Teppei Jūjutsu Kai is an authentic Japanese martial system with more than 100 years of transmission outside of Japan. We are an association of likeminded individuals dedicated to the study of jūjutsu.

Originally used by the samurai class when disarmed or when no weapon was available to them, jūjutsu is the progenitor art of many popular modern styles, including Jūdō and Aikidō. Unlike these modern forms, jūjutsu retains its old-world principles and strategies tailored toward battlefield combat or grievous engagements.

Beyond unarmed combat, our system includes an ingrained weapon system as well as techniques that provide defense against a variety of weapon types.

Our curriculum includes:

1. Throwing methods (投げ技)
2. Striking techniques (当身技)
3. Joint manipulation and dislocating methods (関節技)
4. Strangulation and choking techniques (締め技)
5. Arresting methods and pinning techniques (逮捕技, 押込技)
6. Ground combat (寝技)
7. Weapon defense and tactics (武器兵法)
8. Hanbō (half-staff) and tanbō (short/small staff) weapon arts (半棒術、単棒術)
9. A study of vital targets (急所技)
10. Resuscitation methods (活法)
11. Martial strategy (武術兵法)

* Please note that while the course is primarily taught in English, German speaking natives are more than welcome to attend.

About Me
I embarked on my martial arts journey in 1997, beginning with Shotokan Karate, which I studied intensively for approximately a decade. This foundational training was under the direct lineage of Gichin Funakoshi, the founder of Shotokan, through Stan Schmidt, who was a student of renowned masters such as, Keinosuke Eonoda, and Masatoshi Nakayama. My practice in karate is rooted in its historical form, focusing on the traditional methods and principles from the early 1900s. I have dedicated considerable time to restoring these original techniques and adapting them for realistic civilian self-defense, in contrast to the modern sport karate of today.

In parallel, my martial practice evolved as I transitioned into Jujutsu in 2007, where I now hold the position of Shibuchō (支部長) or 'head of the European branch' of the Seishi Teppei Jujutsukai. My instruction is in an authentic jujutsu system whose techniques are aimed at addressing a variety of combative applications. Additionally our system incorporates both hanbō and tanbō weapon systems, vital point study (kyūsho), an advanced application of atemi (striking methods), and extensive grappling methodologies (torite) - among other categories of techniques. I am also one of the few remaining practitioners of this art with the knowledge and authority to transmit this small family system of jujutsu.

In addition to martial practice, I am the founder of the Tokaiteki Bujutsu Association, an organization that emphasizes the application of traditional martial strategies to modern security, self-defense situations, and professional sectors. I have taught self-defense programs, anti-rape courses, consulted with security professionals and have contributed to university awareness panels and martial seminars. My focus centers on a multi-phase approach to combat, which includes situational awareness, combative proficiency, and sustaining control over an assailant during martial encounters.

In addition to my martial arts career, I am a trained attorney and have lectured on the intersection of martial arts, self-defense, and combat within the law.
