Agriculture, Food and Land Use studies - Deep dive into animal nutrition and methane emissions
From 92 £ /h
The agriculture industry is under increasing pressure to improve production efficiency and reduce greenhouse gas emissions, especially methane, in the face of an ever-growing global population and increasing demand for animal based animal-based food products. Enteric emissions of methane is not only a major contributor to agricultural GHG emissions but it also represents a significant energy loss which could otherwise be utilised by livestock for growth and development purposes.
New consumer trends such as the growth of the plant based food sector has created additional challenges for land use, supply chain carbon footprint and competition for fertile arable land from renewable energy cropping systems. In this class, the tutor endeavours to educate the participants in understanding the supply chain from field to fork and provide a window of opportunity to learn about a subject matter which is not often delved into through mainstream education curricula.
The tutor is educated to Ph.D level in animal science and agriculture and will provide education on animal nutrition and its effect on global warming, based on experimental outcomes he discovered through his own experimental
studies.
