I am eager to help young people feel confident when writing sociology essays. I will place an emphasis on deconstructing the questions students are given by encouraging them to reword the question to offer a different perspective on it. In addition, the main aim of a sociology essay is to convince the reader more and more of the argument you have claimed in the introduction. I want to help students do this by helping them follow the PEAL structure, i.e. Point, Evidence, Analysis, Link back to question. I have found this a very effective and coherent way of structuring an essay. I have studied Sociology for 7 years now, at AS/A Level, Undergraduate Level and now at MSc level at LSE. I was awarded First-Class Honours in my undergraduate as well as 'Best Dissertation of the year' by the School of Humanities and Social Sciences. I am seeking a potential career in academia so I truly feel passionate about engaging with the lesson plans on this platform and helping students feel confident in their essay writing.

During the sessions, you are guided in your writing project. A. in History at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, where I graduated cum laude. This includes one piece nominated as a finalist for publication in the school's historical journal. I also have experience in tutoring and public history via an internship at the Memphis Museum of Science and History (MoSH) where I worked to research, design and implement a new exhibit in a historical home owned by the museum. I understand firsthand the challenges that come with academic writing and historical research, and I will use my experience to offer strategies that will help your work and research become the best it can possibly be!

This includes beginners who are keen to learn basic writing skills, and those with some experience wishing to develop their practice and learn more, including students of English and creative writing at school, college or outside of formal education. Although we will touch on key grammatical terms, the focus will be on your creative expression through the written word. In these classes, which will be tailored according to age, experience, needs, and areas of interest, students will learn the basics of writing short stories, including flash fiction; poetry, including free verse and traditional forms such as Haiku and sonnets; and creative prose, including life writing or short creative essays. You can attend as many classes as you like, and together, we will build your skills and understanding of creative writing, including identifying the stories you want to tell. The classes will be a mix of presentation, 'warm-up' writing activities, discussion, reading and analysing key texts, main writing activities, and redrafting, editing and proof-reading your work. For those wishing to get published, there will be additional optional support available, such as detailed editing and mentoring advice, as well as hints and tips on developing as a writer. Bring what you need to me, and we will shape the classes together! I hold a recent DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check, and parents or guardians of students under 18 years of age are welcome to meet the tutor first, and/or sit in on the classes.
