My name is Maia, I am 23 and Italian, but have moved to the UK just over 4 years ago to pursue my university studies – first at the University of Glasgow, now at the LSE. I've been teaching and tutoring children, teenagers and adults (including UN professionals) in English, Italian and Spanish for longer than I have been in higher education!

As someone who has navigated the challenges of learning new languages myself, I understand what it takes to communicate effectively. I love sharing practical hacks and tricks to help my students memorise vocabulary, understand speech, and master grammar through clear explanations, fun facts and etymology insights.

My name is Maia and I am an enthusiastic tutor with over 6 years of experience in Italian, English and Spanish. I am very passionate about languages myself and I am dedicated to helping learners achieve their goals and overcome any challenges that learning Italian may present.

I am currently pursuing a Master's degree in International Development and Humanitarian Emergencies at the London School of Economics, and I hold an Undergraduate Master's degree in International Relations and Sociology from the University of Glasgow. Before moving to the UK for university, I attended the Spanish section of the Liceo Statale Virgilio and passed the Italian and Spanish national exams with flying colours. I have further studied Russian at the Rossotrudnichestvo Centre, Advanced French and Mandarin at the University of Glasgow, and Indonesian during my time teaching in Gianyar.

My experience as both a student and a teacher has shaped my teaching style. I am patient and tailor all my lessons to each student's unique needs, using materials that are engaging and interactive. I believe in making learning accessible and fun by finding a balance between explaining grammar concepts effectively, practicing conversation, and learning through play – methods that have proved successful with learners of all ages, having applied the appropriate age-based adjustments!

- I'm a professional Italian teacher from Italy, now living between Pisa and Rome. I have 10 years of teaching experience. I offer my native knowledge of Italian to any of you, who wants to discover this beautiful language.

I teach for all levels, from very beginners to advanced speakers, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age. I can also help with university exams and school works/assignments.
Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages.

The lesson is intended to meet the student needs: the focus can be on the grammar, conversation or literature. In case of a middle-level speaker, the lesson will cover all four language's abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading. My suggestion of a well planned lesson is, for any level, to divide it into two parts: grammar first and then conversation (covering all the abilities mentioned above).

If you wish to brush up your Italian, resume a past series of lessons, or simply start from scratch learning Italian, this is the right lesson for you! I like to personalize each class/course according to the needs and goals of my students. My classes are focused on improving the student's communication skills. At beginner and lower intermediate levels, I prefer using a text book/ student book in the first part of the class. I usually use "Nuovissimo Progetto Italiano" and "Arrivederci" by Edilingua, or "Nuovo Espresso" and "Dieci" by Alma Publishing. For the second part of the lesson, I create engaging contents using original videos, press articles, extracts from blogs and social media, literary texts. If the students do not feel comfortable using Italian from scratch, I can switch to English, German, or Dutch. The course fee includes the correction of home assignments.
