Learn Italian Like a Linguist | For Curious Minds & Language Lovers

Ciao! I'm Camilla, a language teacher and PhD researcher in Italian linguistics.
Over the past few years, I've taught Italian to learners from many different linguistic and cultural backgrounds, from complete beginners to university students. Alongside my teaching, my research focuses on Italian grammar, language education and how people learn languages.
As a language learner myself, I know that studying a language can be both exciting and challenging. That's why I believe every learner deserves an approach that builds on their strengths, values their previous experiences and makes learning feel meaningful. Whether you're learning Italian for work, study, travel or simply because you love languages, my goal is to help you develop confidence, curiosity and a deeper understanding of how Italian works.
What you can expect from our Italian lessons:
1. We start with your languages.
Before learning Italian, I want to discover the languages you already speak, understand or have encountered throughout your life. Your linguistic repertoire is the starting point of our lessons, because every language you know can support the learning of a new one.
2. We learn by observing, connecting and remembering.
Languages are full of patterns waiting to be discovered. Instead of remembering grammar in isolation, we'll explore Italian through examples, comparisons and guided observation. Once we've understood how something works, we'll use different memory strategies and regular practice to make it part of your active language. Different learners remember in different ways, so we'll experiment with techniques that best fit your learning style.
4. We make room for Italian in your everyday life.
Learning a language doesn't require hours of study every day: it requires consistency. Progress comes from regular contact with the language. Together we'll create simple, sustainable routines that fit your goals, your schedule and your learning style, whether through reading, listening, vocabulary practice or short writing activities.
5. We grow into independent language learners.
Learning Italian is our goal, but learning how to learn is just as important. Throughout our lessons you'll develop strategies, habits and confidence that will continue to support your language learning long after our work together.

About Me
Piacere, sono Camilla!
I'm a language teacher and PhD researcher based between Italy and Switzerland. My academic work focuses on Italian linguistics and language education, but what truly drives me is a lifelong fascination with languages and the many ways they connect people, cultures and ideas.
Outside academia, you'll usually find me with a book in my hands, listening to music, creating collages, practising aerial arts or learning a new language myself (I'm currently studying French!). I believe these passions are not separate from teaching: they constantly inspire the way I design my lessons.
I'm convinced that learning is most rewarding when it is driven by curiosity rather than pressure. Whether we're reading an article, analysing a song, discussing a work of art or simply chatting about everyday life, I enjoy bringing authentic materials and students' personal interests into the learning process.
My goal is to create a supportive and encouraging environment where mistakes are welcomed, curiosity is celebrated and every learner feels comfortable exploring the language at their own pace.
For me, teaching is not just about sharing knowledge: it's about learning together. Every student brings a unique story, and that's what makes every lesson different!

Have you ever wondered why languages work the way they do? Whether you're preparing for a university exam, studying linguistics, training to become a language teacher or simply fascinated by language, I'd be happy to help you explore the field.
I'm an Italian linguist and PhD researcher in Italian linguistics, with experience in teaching and academic research. My lessons are available in English or Italian and are tailored to your background, goals and interests.
Together we can explore topics such as:
• General Linguistics • Morphology and Word Formation • Syntax and Grammar • Semantics and Pragmatics • Sociolinguistics • Language Acquisition • Italian Linguistics • Romance Linguistics • Language Education
Rather than simply memorising definitions, we'll learn to observe language, discuss real-world case studies and develop the tools to observe language critically and thoughtfully.
My goal is to help you develop analytical thinking, connect theory with real language use and feel confident discussing linguistic concepts.
Whether you need support for an exam, help with assignments or simply want to discover the fascinating world of linguistics, I'll adapt our lessons to your needs and learning style.
