I believe one of the most difficult things to learn and train for language students is to become fluent and sound natural in a foreign language, both in formal and colloquial settings. It's not something you can get in books or studying, it's something that comes with practice.
That is the reason I offer these sessions, to give students the opportunity to work on their oral expression with a native Spanish speaker in a safe space and adapting the session to their needs and specific challenges.

I like to do the sessions mainly as a conversation around a certain topic (chosen either by the student or proposed by myself) so the student can practice what a real life conversation or presentation would be like and work on the difficulties that come up in that setting through several focus points proposed by myself. This allows students to work on their expression and communication skills as well as their accent while also working on their comprehension.

I like to propose reading or audiovisual materials related to the topic chosen prior to the session, so we can base it around it as it allows us to go further with the conversation and challenge the possibilities.

GENERAL GOALS

- Give students the confidence to talk fluently in any setting, colloquial or formal; increase their vocabulary.
- Work on their accent. I can work with you on your accent/vocabulary whether you learnt South American Spanish or Spanish from Spain, however I’m Spanish, so you will train your comprehension skills to Spanish accent and the vocabulary I will use will be from Spain.
The sessions will be online via Skype.

I am originally from Spain and I graduated in Translation and Interpreting Studies at University in Valencia.
Besides arts, languages and communication are one of my passions. My native language is Spanish, and my second language is English; I am fully bilingual in both. My name is Dani and I am Mexican. I always ask my students about their specific goals and their preferred way of learning a language. In my classes I like to take a conversational approach, but this depends entirely on the needs of my students. I use different books with different didactic material, mostly Aula Plus and Bitacora. I also try to practice all skills: talking, writing and listening. If the student wants it, I leave homework, which I correct during the week before the next lesson, so that we can make the most of the lesson time. I share a word or phrase of the week with my students to build a useful vocabulary. Teaching is my passion. I feel motivated by the progress of my students, which I believe also keeps them motivated. German and Spanish are my native languages and I speak fluent English, I also speak fluent Dutch (with a little accent). Therefore, I can explain concepts in all these languages. However, I prefer to speak Spanish as much as possible, also for the beginners lessons, because I believe that people learn the language better that way.

Conversational Spanish is a very important part of the learning as it is the natural way to learn it. My classes are designed to help students to learn in a natural way by choosing a topic and dealing with that topic from all angles: grammar, speaking, listening and translating. That helps students to gradually absorb what they are studying. I usually conduct a relaxing lesson where students feel they can improve and learn at their own pace.
Even if you are an absolute beginner you will be able to speak some Spanish by the end of the first lesson.
