About Me

Alex, professional Brazilian drummer & percussionist, instructor, and music producer, is now living and performing in the UK. Graduated in Musicology after his young musical conservatory training and several musical studies, courses and workshops attendance, providing him with the acquisition of a vast knowledge in drums rhythms and percussion instruments, as well as technical and musical skills. In Brazil, has worked with numerous bands, doing many performances, recordings, and teaching.
Alex is an official endorser of MEINL percussion instruments, Bosphorus cymbals and Aquarian Drumheads.

Since 2001, already in Portugal, worked with various top artists in Portuguese popular music (Ana Malhoa, Jose Malhoa, Marcus, Filipe Neves, etc...), bands and several musical projects (Big Show Sic Band, Andre Sarbib, Samuel Quinto 4ET, Giovani Goulart, Uriel Varallo, Tramadix, Havana Band, Galdir, Otis sax, Groove Addiction, Nuno Montalto, Camerata Bracarense Orchestra, etc...).

Alex has moved to the UK in 2014, starting new musical projects as The Bandidos, integrated Blue Brazil, Del Camino, Pindorama and Blue Lion Band, like many others different projects as an invited musician. Alex is currently teaching drums and percussion at BIMM Birmingham.

Versatility is a term that summarizes the work of this Brazilian musician.

The needs of the pupil come first, and the lessons will be designed to accommodate those first and foremost, in this way I will employ my Jazz training to improvise the best possible lesson based on those needs.

That said, a foundational structure of rudiments and essential theoretical knowledge is key to a productive lesson, and hopefully a pinch of fun, too!

I have bags of experience teaching music, and I'm happy to teach to all levels of drummer. Having acquired a degree at a conservatoire, I have the skills required to deliver you the highest level of tutelage.

In this unit we will look at how to play and improvise over top backing tracks. You will start to explore how to play your favourite jazz and pop tunes by ear and then set up riffs and solos as you go along. Taught by top Ibiza and pop soloist you will really see how this will inspire your saxophone player. Ideal for any level from beginner upwards.
