My name is René. I combine sound academic expertise in chemistry and biochemistry with over 10 years of teaching experience (more than 5 of which were successfully online). I already hold a Bachelor's degree in Food Technology (grade 1.7) and am currently completing my second Bachelor's degree in Chemical Biology at TU Dortmund (grade 1.8), after which I will immediately begin my Master's degree in Chemistry.

My primary focus is on organic chemistry, particularly organic natural product synthesis, retrosynthesis, organic catalysis, and organometallic chemistry. My bachelor's thesis at TU Dortmund was on the topic of "Synthesis of a substituted 2,3-dihydrofuro[2,3-b]tropone as a model compound in studies on the total synthesis of marine tetraterpenoids of the gukulenin family." To further my scientific expertise, I am currently taking four specialized master's modules at Ruhr University Bochum with Prof. Gerald Dyker: Stoichiometric Organometallics, Catalytic Organometallics, Designing Organic Syntheses, and Competing Reactions. In addition, I have excellent grades in physical chemistry (1.3 in PC 1 & 2 and 1.7 in quantum mechanics/PC 3) and a strong foundation in biochemistry.

In my teaching, I emphasize a deep, logical understanding rather than rote memorization: I explain organic reactions from the ground up using molecular principles such as MO theory, the HSAB principle, quantum mechanics, and pKa values.
