Do your feet automatically start tapping when you hear great music? Do you love the funky beats of Bollywood songs? Or do you just have a mild fascination with dancing and want to try it out once just for fun? Then look no further! I am Urvi, classically trained in Bhartnatyam( Indian Classical Dance) along with Jazz and Ballet. I carry with me 22 years of dancing experience and multiple years of teaching students. I am here to conduct Bollywood Dance workshops and classes to teach you some fun moves on all time favourite Bollywood numbers!

I have been dancing ever since I was 4 years old and I derive great joy from teaching others the same. I have danced on Bollywood songs all my life, maybe it choreographing for wedding performances or even for flash mobs here at the University of Oxford. Classes, choreography and staging! in person or virtually

Are you going home and want to do something special? Let's do it together, whether it's a dance, a performance, or whatever you want—alone, with your partner, family, bridesmaids, or whoever you want. There are two options: I'll teach you how to dance the genre you're going to dance plus the choreography, or I'll just teach you the choreography. It's up to you.

The cost of creating choreographies depends on their duration (in addition to the cost of the class and/or rehearsal).

💃In our Bollywood Indian dance classes, we learn basic movements and beautiful choreographies to famous Indian film songs, blending various dance traditions: retro, jazz, traditional dance, classical Bollywood, Kathak, and more. We also develop the body for this dance.

We also use various accessories, such as scarves, candles, and more.

📌It doesn't always take two for things to work...
To begin to connect, assimilate and experiment with new KNOWLEDGE, the most IMPORTANT thing is the body, the attitude, perseverance and a great pinch of confidence!
I always like to approach the codes of different dance disciplines, based on structures that work on the physical, rhythmic, and creative aspects.
There is an idea that Tango is difficult to learn, and of course if we approach it with that label, it will be that way. Starting from the main concept of tango, WALKING, something that we all do most of the time, dancing tTANGO is within everyone's reach.🤗
Another very important point is the way to assimilate and understand it 😉😅
❤️‍🔥What will the classes be like, you ask?
I'll tell you a little bit, we are going to develop the structure in the work of weight changes, the step, projection of the walk, the pivot, understanding the kinesphere individually and as a couple translated into the hug, the turns and the spiral torso to understand the momentum in various exercises, the eights so famous in tango, the basic step and universal exit, walks with the concept of lanes and much more from various sequences that familiarize you with the technical needs to be able to perform the steps without leaving aside the dynamics, pulse, accent and compas of the tango. Everything will be raised in the background in a more organic way. It's not just about learning individual steps, and then...what do we do 🧐? It is not the form that should take the leading role, but the way in which you express that form.
We will also let your creative and playful side be part of the process, through a tool that I consider very valuable, which is improvisation 👌 since it allows you to find your own style and recognize your strengths and weaknesses to continue growing in your passion for dance.
With all these tools, entering the world of more complex sequences and why not, creating your own, will be one more step and not an impossible challenge to achieve.🤩
Don't forget that the steps that are known today and a large part of the sequences emerged from a restless and creative mind, which explored synonymous with IMPROVISE❗️

In this class, I would introduce students to a variety of dance styles coming from India. This includes Bollywood, Desi Hip-Hop, folk and classical fusions, and Indian classical styles such as Kuchipudi. If learning about different cultures interests you, or you miss dancing in South Asian styles, I teach all levels from beginner to advanced and would be happy to accomodate for any needs. Each class involves one short choreography, which by the end of a 60-minute class you would be able to master.

In my classes, I work with mindfulness, presence, energetic expansion, and ancestry as foundational elements of the creative process. Through embodied practices, I guide students in developing self-awareness, a deeper connection with themselves, and a conscious interaction with space. I am a Brazilian actress and educator based in Glasgow, with over 13 years of experience in theatre and butoh. With a background in Dramatic Arts, Psychoanalysis, and Literature, my work is grounded in ongoing field research and embodied practice, bringing together lived experience and teaching. I have been teaching since 2012 and successfully transitioned to online instruction in 2019, building a loyal and engaged community of students in Brazil. I am now excited to expand my work and share this practice with students worldwide.
As a member of the Brazilian theatre group Coletivo MÓ, I specialize in physical theatre techniques inspired by masters such as Luís Otávio Burnier, Jerzy Grotowski, Eugenio Barba, Kazuo Ohno, Tatsumi Hijikata, and Tadashi Endo. My practice also incorporates elements of Butoh dance and clow, creating a rich, multidimensional approach to performance, creativity, and self-expression.
