Latin is often described as a dead and useless language. But you should know that it helps to better understand the French language. It is also a very interesting language to study! As a student in the Preparatory Class for Literary Grandes Ecoles, I do a lot of Latin and can therefore help to learn and revise Latin lessons in addition to having a lot of practical exercises. I am passionate about languages and the study of translation (version / theme). I studied Latin and English throughout my schooling and during my studies in preparatory literary class. I also went to work in England for a two month stay, which allowed me to develop a "British" accent and to be more aware of the characteristics of this wonderful language and indispensable in the world today. The methods are based on cognitive sciences and in particular historical linguistics. What will not be the subject of the course: learn lists of verbs; learn lists of nouns with their gender; learn words with their translations; memory card game; doing school exercises; follow the program in a notebook; impose French grammar on the Latin language. What matters to me in particular: motivate my student and give him a learning rhythm; encourage creativity; make friends with language; letters and their sounds strengthen your memory by working on the phonological loop; teach construction plans instead of having people learn sentences by heart; explain how the language works to make my student independent as quickly as possible; breaking preconceived ideas such as the gammatical gender would have a link with the biological gender, the accusative would be a direct complement and the dative an indirect complement, the verbs would be irregular, the declension would be random and therefore to be learned with each verb... ; place practice at the center and articulate grammar around practice. You will be prepared for public exams (A levels, GCSE, American SATS, Common Entrance) in French, Spanish, Linguistics (English) and Latin (up to Common Entrance) to a high standard. For those not taking exams, you will be taught via grammar and reading, which assures quick progression. You are welcome to bring your own material to explore with the tutor or your school prep. I do not write essays for students but provide a high degree of research to allow you to shine in your project or chosen module.
