I have studied with some of the best teachers in Europe as well as famous bassists from the New York Jazz Scene. Besides my studies I have been actively performing, recording and teaching since age 16, which led me to play at different festivals and venues such as North Sea Jazz, JazzOpen Stuttgart, Bimhuis, DeDoelen Rotterdam.
I'm calm and easy going and I want to pass on the knowledge I got from my teachers as well as my own experience. I always focus on getting you ready or better at playing in a band, since that's what we do as bass players! I'm experienced in and open to a wide variety of styles, my specialization being Jazz.

About Me

Hi, I'm Philip!
I'm a professional Bass player and teacher from Germany based in Amsterdam.
I have studied with some of the best teachers in Europe as well as famous bassists from the New York Jazz Scene. Besides my studies at different Conservatories, I have been actively performing, recording and teaching since age 16. This has led me to play at different festivals and venues such as North Sea Jazz, JazzOpen Stuttgart, Bimhuis, DeDoelen Rotterdam.

Here's an example for how a 1h lesson could look like:

5 min - Talking, Set-up, Discussing the progress and content of the lesson
15 min - Technical training (Feedback, learning new techniques or exercises)
10 min - Theory, Ear Training or Rhythmic Training
25 min - Learning a song and approaching it together
5 min - Discussing the content of the lesson and what to do at home

This would be one way to do it, but I of course adapt my teaching style to you and your pace.

Even if you have no or little theory knowledge yet, I have a way of getting you started with improvisation and then teaching you everything theoretical you need to know.

Adrian (1997) is an Amsterdam-based guitarist from Caracas, Venezuela that is part of the up-coming generation of the Dutch Jazz scene. Winner of the Erasmus Jazz Prize 2019, Adrian has performed at top festivals such as North Sea Jazz Fest, North Sea Round Town and Grachtenfestival, and has also shared the stage with established and emerging musicians such as Benjamin Herman, Stefan Lievestro and Alessandro Fongaro.

Adrian (1997) started classical guitar lessons at age 11 but quickly switched to electric guitar because of his passion for rock music. At age 14, he was admitted to the TJC Music School in his hometown, Caracas, where he studied jazz guitar, graduating with honours at age 17. While living in Venezuela, Adrian started playing professionally at 16 years old, being called a “young promise”. In 2017, Adrian moved to The Netherlands to study at Codarts University of the Arts, later transferring to Conservatorium van Amsterdam in 2019 to study with Jesse van Ruller, Reinier Baas, Martijn van Iterson, Maarten van der Grinten, and many more. Adrian is currently living in Amsterdam.

Hi! I'm a professional trumpet player from Australia now based in Amsterdam. I've spent the past 10 years freelancing with some of Australia's best orchestras (Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Darwin Symphony Orchestra & Sydney Symphony Orchestra to name a few..), as well as recording sessions for pop/rock artists, film scores and music theatre. I've enjoyed diversifying my career by teaching in Australian schools, and now since I've moved I'm looking to help you with your goals now I'm here in Holland.

We focus a lot of getting a good sound out of the instrument and after learning the basics we start to go into the genre that you prefer to learn. Voice lessons are an amazing way to strengthen your voice and broaden your range. Lessons are offered for all types of musical styles including jazz, classical, and pop. In these lessons we will cover vocal technique, song performance, leading a band, sight reading, music theory, and other aspects of performing and singing.

Taught in English by a Native English speaker the student with receive English diction lessons along with singing.

The basic technique is guaranteed, but the teacher will work with the student on the specific goals and topics the students want to focus on.

As a Jazz Trumpet student of the Conservatorium van Amsterdam I offer private lessons for all ages and all levels.
In addition to my studies, I had been offering teaching Trumpet, Music Theory and Piano beginners (of any age), group or private lessons as well. I had been working in several schools in Istanbul teaching those subjects, examining, organizing auditions and helping students to prepare auditions to play in orchestras and schools.

In my opinion, creativity and pleasure of playing are the way to improve and learn. After teaching many years I understand all of my student are unique and different. When you have just started, we will take it easy by working on several things. I have 23 years of experience playing the saxophone and around 15 years of teaching experience, working with both children and adults, beginners, and more experienced players. I believe that, in addition to teaching, it is essential to remain an active and performing musician to ensure that the approach remains fresh and relevant, which I am.

I specialise in jazz improvisation, but these skills are transferable to any style you may wish to learn. The primary goal is to become proficient on the saxophone with a strong and beautiful sound, while also mastering the fundamentals.

HI! I am Lenart and I am currently a student at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. I have been playing the trumpet for more than 15 years and have experience in many different music genres like Jazz, Pop, Classical, Baroque. I graduated from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana. I used to do a lot of teaching (young to old) when I was still residing in Slovenia. My name is Ignacio Pintó and I am a Spanish bass player living in Amsterdam. I moved to this lovely city four years ago to study the Jazz Double Bass Bachelor at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam.

I am in love with music, my main occupation right now is working in projects that excite me deeply, trying to bring new sounds to the world through composition and improvisation.

I love sharing this excitement and knowledge with people. That's the reason why I have developed a flexible system to organise music development, based on my recent experience. In the lessons we will focus on the music you love and find ways to develop the skills it requires in a methodic way, always having fun in the process. We will also playfully explore creativity and improvisation, my ultimate goal is finding your voice as a musician and helping you develop it!

Although double bass is my main instrument now, my first steps as a musician were given with bass guitar. I also have experience teaching that instrument and I feel equally capable of helping you develop those skills.

My name is Olivér, I’m 22 years old, and I make music! I believe anyone can play, and if we practice well it can add playfulness to our lives. In my lessons, I strive for a friendly, human, yet disciplined atmosphere.
