About Me
I am a multi-instrumentalist who had a rich and diverse playing career with many jazz and function bands, orchestras and ensembles while I lived in the UK.
I offer expert teaching in Cello and Drum Kit. I don't wish to take on any more piano students. I have a vast imbalance of Piano pupils compared with Drum Kit or Cello which are my true passions.
I moved to Austria in 2021 and am learning German but a combination of factors have meant I'm not competent enough in German to teach quite yet.

Teaching music is my passion and I want to share my knowledge learned from some of the UK's foremost teachers including Kay Tucker, William Bruce, Richard Markson, Christine Livingston, Ernie Cox, Pete Zeldman, Alexandra Adrievsky, Tristan Mailliot, Dave Hassel, Dave Wickins , Darren Ashford.
Education
I studied secondary school music education at Cambridge University gaining a PGCE
I taught in schools for 5 years gaining Qualified Teacher Status in 2009
I studied Drums and Cello at
Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance gaining a Bmus Hons - in Jazz studies
Experience / Qualifications
I started music at 4 yrs of age on drums then piano soon after. I took up singing and cello aged 8. At 11 I started studying at the Royal College of Music (junior department) in London for 7 years. This led to numerous classical music concerts and recitals in my teens. However having discovered jazz through my late drum teacher Ernie Cox, I felt compelled to change my musical direction, fulfill his legacy for the way he inspired me through his jazz drumming. I was fortunate to show enough raw potential to gain a place at Trinity Laban Conservatoire to study jazz. After studying for 4 years in London I launched my ensemble career performing in Big Bands and smaller Jazz combos at many of London's finest jazz venues. The lifestyle didn't suit my main goal to be a fully qualified music teacher so I worked hard to develop my teaching pedagogy and after gaining a place at Cambridge University in 2008 I went on to gain my PGCE in music education. I taught in schools for 5 years before meeting my wife. I focused on private instrumental teaching from then on. I rediscovered my love of performing again moving to Cambridge and performing in many musicals and 2 Big Bands and a Celidh band. I moved to Austria to be closer to my wife's family.
