Hi! My name is Delia and I am a Spanish flutist currently living in The Netherlands. As a professional musician, I find great joy in spreading my love for music, imparting insights and instilling appreciation for this art. My desire to educate people of all ages and levels stems from a profound urge to share all the knowledge acquired through years of dedicated learning under remarkable flute teachers and fellow musicians.

During my lessons, I approach music both technically and artistically. I concentrate on refining essential skills such as intonation, breath control, and different articulations, among others. My aim is to empower students to master their instruments, ensuring that they wield control rather than the opposite way and also, to imbue their musical expression with a personal touch.

About Me

I am Delia, a 24 years old Spanish flutist who is currently living in Utrecht, The Netherlands due I studied my master here. I started to play the flute when I was 6 years old because all my family is a musician and I loved what they showed me. I am a very responsible and calm girl who enjoys both learning and teaching music, specifically the flute, and I like to motivate always my students. I am driven by a relentless pursuit of knowledge, continuous personal development, and the pursuit of well-defined objectives.

Education

- Master Degree in Classical Music at HKU Utrecht Conservatorium (The Netherlands, 2021-2024) with professor Aldo Baerten (Soloist of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra), Blaz Snoj (piccolo) and Ellen Vergunst (piccolo).
- Erasmus Program at Maastricht Conservatorium (The Netherlands, 2019-2020) with Valerie Debaele (Soloist of Orchestre Philharmonique Royal of Liège).
- Bachelor Degree in Classical Music at Conservatori Superior de Música Joaquín Rodrigo de València (Spain, 2016-2020) with Joaquín Gericó.
- Professional Degree at Conservatori Professional de Música de Torrent (Spain, 2010-2016)

I received lessons from Kersten McCall (Soloist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra), Peter-Lukas Graf, Peter Verhoyen (Piccolo soloist of the Antwerp Symphony Orchestra), Julien Beaudiment, Gaby Pas-Van Riet, Silvia Careddu, Magdalena Martínez (Soloist of the Orquesta de la Comunidad Valenciana), Juana Guillem (Soloist of the Orquesta Nacional de España), Vicens Prats (Soloist of the Paris Orchestra, Salvador Martínez (Soloist of the Orquesta de Valencia), among others.

I worked with PHION Orchestra (Professional Orchestra), Youth Orchestra of Valencia, Youth Orchestra of the FSMCV and Youth Orchestra of Castellón.

Do you or your child want to play the flute? Or to learn how enjoyable can it be? You are most welcome!

Learning to play the instrument is an opportunity to enter the world of music and become a musician.
More importantly, you learn the joy of creating music by yourself.

I invite beginners as well as children or adults who have already had some experiences with playing and want to develope their skills.

I also offer lessons for duos or trios – two or three different recorders, flute and piano or guitar, or two flutes. In this case, we focus on the skills needed for ensemble playing and less on individual technique, so this option is not for absolute beginners. The cost per person for ensemble lessons will be lower.

How does a lesson with me look like?
It depends on your level and what we focus on, but we will certainly do some preparatory exercises. You will present what you have been preparing since last time, and we will work on some details. If there is time, we shall then try something new. We can also play duos together. A lesson last about an hour, or 45 minutes for younger pupils.

I can adjust the repertoire to your preferences, to your needs and to your level, but I shall also encourage you to learn some new and unfamiliar styles.
I like to use notated music in the process of learning, so that in the future you will feel comfortable about reading music, but we can also sometimes improvise, or play something you remember without notation.

Along the way, you will learn some music theory, which is necessary part of becoming a musician.

I also offer music theory lessons alone, if you wish.

As a Flutist I can teach you technique (sound and phrasing) and musicality, both in a classical and jazz environment.
We can also dive in to more theoretical subject like chord progressions, rhythm subdivision and groove, ear training, analysis, and jazz vocabulary.

For all levels, from begginers to more advanced, no matter age, just eagerness.
I like to motivate my students regarding to their music tastes.
Always trying to keep a creative environment where the students can express themselves in all aspects.
I believe that it is necessary to be constant. The ideal would be one hour or hour and a half per week, but that depends on the student availability. I would provide a personal adaptation.

I consider myself an involved and motivated musician. I am constantly trying to learn and enjoy so much doing it.
In the meantime I was studying the degree, I teached weekly, mainly kids and teenagers, and the last two summers I was teaching in a Flute Summer Course, individual lessons and for chamber music.
I have done a university course for Psychology for Musicians, which encouraged me to go deeper in this field, and currently this is the base of my teaching and my mindset for my studies and life.

I am a music teacher by profession and have had experience teaching flute, piano, recorder as well as subject music (including theory, music history and music in film study) at a prestigious high school in South Africa. I received my BMus degree at the Nelson Mandela University in the Eastern Cape and received tutelage from Dr Erica Bothma and Dr Erna Cloete.

I can teach flute and recorder up to an advanced level, and piano from beginner to a grade 5 level. I am also able to teach music theory up to a grade 5 level.

I can provide both structured lessons with the goal to play/write an exam, or provide lessons just to learn for the pleasure of playing an instrument. Each pupil will be treated for their individual needs and desires. I can offer my lessons in English and/or Afrikaans. Unfortunately I do not have a piano in my home yet.

I have always had a love for music and have wanted to share that love with the world.

My flute lessons are available in a flexible time frame from 30 minutes to 1 hour, with a frequency of weekly or biweekly, depending on your preference. As a graduated flutist with a bachelor and master degree from the conservatory, where teaching was an important part of my education, I have experience with both group lessons and individual lessons. My method is focused on enthusiasm for music and flute playing, where I welcome every student, regardless of background, language or level. Everyone is welcome to start their musical journey with me!

Recorder or saxophone individual private lessons for English or Cantonese speakers. Throughout the lesson, student will be able to learn how to play the instrument well, music making and melody shaping, basic music theory, and get prepared to perform on stage.
