During the university period I gave private lessons to erasmus students in Italy and now I give individual Italian lessons in Amsterdam and online. I use a book that I integrate with different materials. Conversation is very important, but so is listening and understanding a text. I trained as a professional chef in Los Angeles and ran kitchens for 12 years, both on the west coast of the states and in Amsterdam. Throughout my career I was invested in making vegetarian and vegan cooking a staple of every restaurant I worked in, and showing people how nutritious and delicious this ethical diet can be. I have also spent years working with farmers and market gardeners as well as in supermarkets focussing on understanding where food comes from. Additionally, as a flexitarian for almost 20 years ( I eat animal products a few times a year) I am well-versed in how to build a healthy diet and save money and time! I'd love to work with you to feel confident about using new products and expanding your understanding of nutrition and cooking techniques from the vegan and vegetarian kitchen. I can also give group lessons and family classes

In this course, you will learn a range of linguistic methods and learn the terms used for describing a specific aspect of language or phenomenon (lexis, morphemes, and 'telegraphic stage' to give a few examples). The course requires you to explore your own data using quantitative and qualitative analysis (eg: how frequently are slang phrases used? Are there new auxiliaries being created?). No historical linguistics or literature is involved, but language change or specific traits will be sampled via your own data collection (if this is what is demanded in your course). As many students need to present a "year abroad" dissertation at University level (3rd year in the UK of a Modern Languages or Linguistics Undergraduate course) I can help you to research and structure your year abroad work, both in English (Linguistics) and Romance languages (French, Italian, Spanish). The topics that have arisen from recent discussions with students relate to French Caribbean writing, Italian resistance and reprisals in Rome (Fosse Ardiatine), and Spanish Etica franquista in films (among others).

Being a pianist and a piano teacher, I already have lots of experience with teaching and pedagogical approach with the whole range of ages. The lesson is intended to meet the student needs: the focus can be on the grammar, conversation or literature. In case of a middle-level speaker, the lesson will cover all four language's abilities: listening, speaking, writing and reading. My suggestion of a well planned lesson is, for any level, to divide it into two parts: grammar first and then conversation (covering all the abilities mentioned above).
