Lekshmi
Online tutoring for students from seven to fifteen years
Hi, my name is Lekshmi and I have a bachelor's degree in Humanities (History, Philosophy, and English) and hold a master's degree in International Affairs. I specialised in Science in high school (Physics, Chemistry, Math, Biology) and in History for my undergraduate studies. I can do private tutoring for students from age seven to fifteen years in Math, Science, English, and Social Studies. I can help with school homework as well. I used to tutor my friends in school and would consider myself a teacher who can explain things well. As I am starting my professional journey in tutoring, I will focus more on your needs rather than have my own teaching system. I look forward to hearing from you soon! Lekshmi

International Relations / Political Science / International Law / World Politics
Do you need help with navigating the major schools of International Relations (realism, liberalism, constructivism)? Do you struggle with understanding the ongoing political developments on both global and domestic scales? Do the subtleties of International Law seem challenging? In my class, we can thoroughly unpack all the difficulties these questions pose. I am a graduate student of International Relations at Central European University (CEU) in Vienna, Austria. The coursework I have undertaken during my undergraduate and graduate studies has allowed me to gain a comprehensive understanding of the following academic fields: International Relations, Political Science, and International Law. Additionally, my professional experience of working at the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly First Committee has awarded me first-hand inside knowledge of the most global international organization - the United Nations.

Bilingualism and Code-Switching: by popular demand
In these neuro-divergent times, the binary division of "one language or two" in bilinguals is perhaps due some contestation, which students are capable of providing. I have always found bilingual production models (and the ubiquitous Powerpoint slide) that university teachers provide a hindrance because of their lack of explicitness and discussion - they are just not relatable as presented nor do they provide much information or examples for monolingual students. Code-switching, a by-product of bilingualism, is now a term that is even found in minority-ethnic neighbourhood grafitti ("can white people code-switch" a found example). Please note that this is a linguistic term, used for switching between two languages, and not between local or social varieties of English. My personal position is that there is no such thing as bilingualism: there is always a language that suffers attrition, and one language that prevails, mostly because of its prestigious standing over the other language. On the other hand, a child exposed to more than one language cannot be truly monolingual. For this course (very popular at universities around Europe both at undergraduate and postgraduate level) we shall go through the terms used to discuss bilingualism, in detail, and then discuss, with the help of published books and articles, who can be considered bilingual (or are we all, one other language lying dormant?). Can bilingualism be defined by the speaker, instead of the "community"? Can it be imposed by the State? Does a bilingual brain function in the same manner as a monolingual brain? These are research questions that emerge as dissertation or thesis topics both at undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

If you are struggling with academic writing, getting a research project off the ground, or just want someone else to bounce ideas off of without pressure, I am happy to be your guide! My experience with academic writing spans several large historical research projects undertaken during the completion of my B. I also have experience in tutoring and public history via an internship at the Memphis Museum of Science and History (MoSH) where I worked to research, design and implement a new exhibit in a historical home owned by the museum.
