- Playing style: 2 finger folk banjo with fingerpicks - Not exclusively American music. You will find all kinds of folk music and other tunes from the collective memory of my generation in the lesson package. - No prior knowledge or music theory required. I use tablatures. I have written about 300 tabs for banjo - The lessons are progressing very quickly: o 1st lesson basic rhythm right hand and some chord shapes (number depends on student) o 2nd lesson: first song, with tablature and the necessary explanation o 3rd lesson: the same song with some simple basic decorations with the left hand o From the 4th lesson onwards, a new song or tune every lesson  If it becomes too difficult, I also fully adapt to the needs of the student - Both individual and group lessons are possible - During the lessons various open banjo tunings are discussed. - My banjo style lends itself very well to playing or singing along with violin, mandolin, guitar, bagpipes, hurdy-gurdy, nyckelharpa, diatonic accordion and other folk music instruments - Since most of the tunings I use on the banjo are in G, this style is very easy to use during sessions or other playing moments here in Western Europe. - But there are also other nice moods.

Guitar lessons focus on hand/wrist health, proper technique, exploring a love of music, how music works, different musical types and genres, why things work together they way they do, and composing music if interested. We individualize lessons and work with students as a team to reach goals they set for themselves. We encourage students to select additional pieces that they’d like to learn, teaching technique and skill while working on fun songs, too. We simply go at whatever pace is comfortable for you and go step by step together. We often upload audio/video to help during practice and are available between lessons to answer questions.

This class is for anyone who wants to learn the banjo! I'm Jack and here's some info about me: I completed my BMus in Music Performance in 2014 and my MA in Music Business in 2015 - since then I've been working as a professional musician, living in London, Amsterdam, Nashville, Montréal, Melbourne and a few other places. I've been playing the banjo since 2013, and I'm familiar with all the essential styles: Scruggs style, melodic, single-string and clawhammer. I'm here to help you learn your favourite pieces and develop as a player, in whichever way will keep you excited to pick up your banjo :) I've played around 500 shows in my life (with over 1,000,000 streams as an artist), so my primary focus has always been how to fit the banjo into a band setting - focusing mostly on Acoustic Pop and Modern Country. I can help you to develop your musicianship, your awareness and your confidence in expressing yourself through the banjo.
