You can choose one of the following three part as your learning content Chinese daily conversation: You will be introduced to the basics of the Chinese language, its structure, and its unique features, including the writing system, tones, and grammar. We will explore the evolution of written Chinese, from oracle bone script to modern Mandarin, and highlight its influence on East Asia and the world. Special attention will be paid to the complexity and beauty of Chinese characters, as well as the ways in which language reflects culture. Chinese Literature: This part of the course will provide an overview of China’s literary heritage, ranging from ancient poetry and classical novels to modern works. Key texts, such as the Book of Songs, Tao Te Ching, Journey to the West, and works by influential modern authors like Lu Xun, will be analyzed in terms of their historical context, thematic concerns, and artistic styles. You will also explore how literature has been a vehicle for cultural identity, social critique, and the preservation of Chinese values over centuries. Chinese Philosophy: We will examine the profound philosophical traditions that have emerged from China, including Confucianism, Daoism, Legalism, and Buddhism. Through studying classic texts like Confucius' Analects, Laozi’s Dao De Jing, and the writings of influential thinkers such as Zhuangzi and Sunzi, you will gain insight into Chinese concepts of morality, politics, nature, and the self. We will also explore how these philosophical ideas continue to impact modern China and influence global thought.

In this ESOL class, I will be preparing students for the Life in the UK test, which is a requirement for those seeking British citizenship or settlement. The class will begin with an overview of the test format, including the types of questions and topics covered. The curriculum will be structured around the key content areas of the test, such as British history, traditions, customs, and the political system. Each lesson will focus on a specific topic, with interactive activities designed to help students understand and retain the information. For example, a lesson on British history might include a timeline exercise, where students match significant events with their corresponding dates and discuss their importance. To enhance understanding and engagement, I will use a variety of teaching methods, including group discussions, multimedia presentations, and role-playing scenarios. These activities not only make the learning process enjoyable but also help students develop their speaking and listening skills, which are crucial for the test. Additionally, the class will include practice tests and quizzes to assess students' progress and identify areas where they may need further support. I will provide tips and strategies for effective test-taking, such as time management and how to handle multiple-choice questions. Throughout the course, I will create a supportive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging students to ask questions and share their experiences. By the end of the class, students will feel confident and well-prepared to take the Life in the UK test, with a deeper understanding of British culture and society.

You already know a lot more about economics than you might imagine. Each day, you make economic decisions, such as choosing between two teachers at Apprentus. You also come to class with years of experience in Economic matters. If you are in the UK and are 14+ years old, you might have worked part-time before and therefore supplied your labour. Supply of labour is an important concept that you might have heard of or learnt about. Do not worry if it is new to you - you may study it if you take this class. But as you may have realized, it is something related to work, so if you have worked before, you know it already. Given students' prior experiences, I teach through examples that draw on these experiences. These examples build bridges from the familiar to the unfamiliar. Through this approach to teaching, I became one of the sought-after Economics tutors in my previous schools, where I worked with students at Key Stages 4 and 5, fostering in them a love for Economics. I bring a well-rounded understanding of AQA AS/A level and GCSE Economics Specifications and familiarity with the following textbooks: 1. Powell, James., Powell, Ray., & Horner, David. (2023). AQA A-Level Economics (5th ed.). Hodder Education Group (AQA Approved) 2. McEachern, W. A. . (2006). Economics: a contemporary introduction (7th ed.). Thomson/South-Western. Though the course is designed to help learners studying AQA GCSE or A Level Economics, it is appropriate for learners studying other specifications such as ORC Economics and all lovers of the subjects.
