👂 My motto for teaching music: Learn with your ear, before understanding it with your brain. Music can be explained entirely from a theoretical point of view 🤯. But I'm convinced that the best approach is to feel and sing the music 🎤💖, before understanding and interpreting it theoretically. I teach music theory intuitively 💫. More than just a way of reading sheet music, I can show you how to deconstruct a piece of music in any genre, how to interpret chords, and how to improvise simply and effectively. ♯♭♮ About me: • playing the piano for >30 years 🎹 • studied classical music & jazz for 13 years in music schools 🧑🏻‍🏫 • played in a variety of bands, including classical music, jazz, blues, latin music, rock, pop, cabaret, flamenco and electronic music • languages: 🇬🇧🇩🇪🇫🇷🇪🇸🇮🇹🇵🇹

German below - I started learning piano at the age of five and was lucky enough to work with the same teacher for thirteen years. During my university years at the University Mozarteum Salzburg and the University of the Arts Berlin, I had the chance to experience different teachers and approaches to music. Through this, I came to understand how important it is to find a teacher you connect with, and how our needs can change throughout our musical journey. In my teaching, I prioritize giving my students the tools they need to become independent musicians themselves: knowing how to practice effectively, improving their sight-reading skills (which opens up an entire library of music), understanding their own strengths and areas where they can improve, and building a solid foundation of basic music theory as far as it is relevant for their piano playing. A typical lesson looks like this: we start with a warm-up, review the previous week's practice, work on current repertoire, and set clear goals for the week ahead. I focus on helping students approach new music with more understanding and confidence. At the same time, I feel that individuality can sometimes be overlooked in the process of improving as musicians. For me, it is equally important to leave space for creativity, through improvisation, exploring different interpretation options, listening to different recordings, and discovering different repertoire or musical styles. If you are one of these people, then you've come to the right place: * Beginners, children or adults * People with poor piano experience or “stuck” players * Parents who want their children to learn music like a language and develop focus and calmness in the process * Music lovers, musicians or fans of certain styles who want to play creatively themselves Then you've come to the right place. I have been a musician since childhood and play the piano. I have been working as a piano teacher for 5 years. I am also an architect and multidisciplinary artist, exploring the connection between sound and visual art. The lessons focus on piano practice, reading music and a better understanding of music – using methods such as Piano Adventures, Alfred and other modern textbooks. After about 5 months, many of my students see a clear difference in their playing, understanding, and self-confidence. ✨ Suitable for children, beginners and anyone who wants to learn piano in a modern and enjoyable way. For me, music is not a theory, but a language that one lives. Music should be learned and treated like a language. Listening, reading (music), writing and playing. The goal is for you to eventually "speak" music naturally, without thinking too much. Feel free to write to me if you want to know more about my teaching or how I teach music like a second language. Other programs (feel free to ask for details at any time – I'll send you all the information): • Program for musical culture and listening comprehension for children and adult artists • Program: Piano lessons and music reading for all age groups • Basic music theory program for beginners and musicians • Program “Sight-reading” (direct reading and playing of music) Karam Berlin, Friedrichshain
