Inspiring and enthusiastic math and physics tutor with 8 years of experience.

Inspiring and enthusiastic math and physics tutor with 8 years of experience.

I have graduated with a degree in chemical engineering from the University of Edinburgh, UK. I am also an Erasmus Mundus scholar with a master's in Analytical Chemistry from Uppsala University. Currently, I am pursuing a PhD in physical chemistry. I have been tutoring since 2012 to fund my education expenses. I formally began tutoring in 2014 as part of my vocational training as a teacher in Ghana, funded by the University of Edinburgh. The formal training has taught me a lot about curriculum development, time management, and fusing my teaching methodology to my students’ needs. I have been tutoring in Physics, Chemistry, and Math, in person and online; the hybrid model has allowed me to reach out and teach students in 8 different countries. I have successful students from these past nine years who have not only commended my work ethic but can also stand testament to my enthusiasm. My excellent academic career has nurtured in me a natural talent for teaching. My experiences have taught me how to tackle one problem at a time, and I believe that using this approach—paired with my unconventional examples that force students to think outside the box—I can truly provide an excellent understanding and explanation. My teaching methodology is based on two main things: skill development and adaptation. Initially, I create a skeleton of the most suitable methodology tailored to the preferred curriculum, after which, I adapt that lecture to the specific needs of the student based on their knowledge and grasp of the concepts. Second, I like to develop analytical and scientific ability along with knowledge in my students, and for that, I use a combination of resources in the form of worksheets, class tasks, and past papers. Last, I believe in the strong ethic of providing feedback to the parents, so that they are aware of their child’s progress. Frequently Asked Questions: Which subject(s) do you teach? I teach math, mechanics, statistics, chemistry and physics. I also teach biology up to GCSE level. When are you available? My timetable is quite flexible. I am happy to work weekdays, week evening and weekends. Which ages and levels do you teach? The majority of my students are between the ages of 10-18, but I also teach college Students. I am also helping foundation and first year university students. Which qualifications do you prepare your students for? GCSE, IGCSE, A/S-level, A-level, IB, School entrance exams and SATs Describe your arrangements for online tutoring? I use Zoom online sessions since it has many tools and features specially designed for interactive and visual learning. I am fully equipped with modern gadgets for e-learning. I use Google drive and docs to share files.

Mathematics Class for KS, GCSE & A-Level Exam Preparation

Mathematics Class for KS, GCSE & A-Level Exam Preparation

I am a graduate from Queen Mary University of London with a first class degree with honours in Mathematics and Actuarial Sciences. Mathematics is an essential subject studied by all students from prep school to GCSE class. Having adequate Maths knowledge also helps students understand science subjects such as Physics and Chemistry. Studying Maths has always been fun for me since I love finding the most efficient way to solve problems. I understand that not all students feel this way and that is why I am here to teach students not only the fundamental methods to solve Maths problems but also how closely related Maths is to our real world. In my lessons, I will use Key Stage, AQA, and GCE Maths books with sample papers to explain the content thoroughly to my students. I will also offer class notes written by myself specifically for my students to help them grasp the knowledge in a clear layout. Having completed both my GCSE and A-level studies in the UK, I have firsthand experience of studying and taking these exams and hope to deliver my tips to my students. I am fluent in English although my native language is Mandarin Chinese. Finally, as an older sibling, I have experience assisting my sister the whole way through her GCSE exams. I believe I am patient and eloquent when teaching younger students. I look forward to getting to know my students and helping them ace their upcoming exams.

Statistics - GCSE, A-Level, IB, Foundation and university level.

Statistics - GCSE, A-Level, IB, Foundation and university level.

Statistics is one of my main areas of expertise, having studied Economics & Statistics at UCL with extensive quantitative training throughout my degree. I can teach Statistics from GCSE and A-Level through IB, Foundation and university level, adapting the depth and approach to each student’s course and ability. I have been tutoring since high school and enjoy making difficult statistical concepts feel simple and intuitive. I focus on helping students understand why a method works rather than simply memorising formulas. Depending on the student’s syllabus, I can cover topics including probability, distributions, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regression, correlation, statistical inference, data analysis and more advanced statistical methods. Lessons are usually 60, 90 or 120 minutes and are tailored to the student’s individual needs. We can work through theory, examples, coursework-style problems, past papers and exam questions. I place particular emphasis on exam technique and problem-solving, while identifying and strengthening any gaps in the student’s mathematical or statistical foundations. Whether the goal is to catch up, prepare for an important exam, improve a grade or develop a deeper understanding of Statistics, my aim is to make the subject clear, structured and manageable while building the student’s confidence and independence.

A-Level, IB, GCSE & IGCSE Statistics Tutor for UK and International Exam Students

A-Level, IB, GCSE & IGCSE Statistics Tutor for UK and International Exam Students

➤ SWISS-BASED STATISTICS TUTOR FOR UK & INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS I am a Swiss-based tutor with a strong academic background in Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. I recently completed my Master’s degree at a technical university of applied sciences in Switzerland, with a main focus on advanced mathematics, data analysis, modelling and AI. My statistics lessons are designed for students who want clear explanations, strong exam preparation and real confidence with data-based questions. ➤ GCSE, A-LEVEL, IB & UNIVERSITY STATISTICS SUPPORT With many years of teaching experience, I support students studying Statistics as part of: → GCSE Mathematics → IGCSE Mathematics → A-Level Mathematics → A-Level Further Mathematics → International A-Level Mathematics → IB Mathematics AA SL / HL → IB Mathematics AI SL / HL → University foundation courses → Business, Finance and Data Science modules I also support students preparing for major UK and international exam boards, including: → Cambridge International → Pearson Edexcel → AQA → OCR → IB Diploma Programme ➤ STATISTICS TOPICS I TEACH I help students understand and master important statistics topics such as: → Mean, median, mode and standard deviation → Box plots, histograms and cumulative frequency → Probability and tree diagrams → Conditional probability → Binomial distribution → Normal distribution → Hypothesis testing → Correlation and regression → Sampling methods → Confidence intervals → Statistical modelling → Data interpretation → Exam-style statistics questions ➤ CLEAR, STRUCTURED & EXAM-FOCUSED LESSONS Many students find statistics confusing because it is not only about formulas, but also about understanding what the data means. My lessons make statistics clear, logical and practical. Students learn how to: → choose the correct statistical method → understand what each formula means → interpret graphs and data properly → avoid common exam mistakes → write clear statistical conclusions → solve probability questions step by step → handle calculator-based statistics questions confidently ➤ FROM CONFUSION TO CLEAR STATISTICAL THINKING In statistics, students often know the formula but do not understand when or why to use it. I focus on building this connection. I explain each topic from the basics, then move gradually to harder exam-style questions. This helps students recognise patterns, understand the method and answer questions with confidence. ➤ SWISS PRECISION WITH DATA SCIENCE THINKING I combine the precision of the Swiss education system with a modern background in Data Science, Artificial Intelligence and mathematical modelling. This allows me to teach Statistics not only as an exam subject, but also as a powerful way to understand real data, make decisions and solve practical problems. ➤ MY GOAL FOR EVERY STATISTICS STUDENT My goal is to help students move from guessing to understanding. I want every student to feel confident when working with data, probability, graphs, distributions and hypothesis testing. With the right structure and practice, statistics becomes much easier, more logical and much less stressful.

Statistics and Mathematics for Advancing thinking and logic (University Based Teaching)

Statistics and Mathematics for Advancing thinking and logic (University Based Teaching)

This is not your traditional math class! Rather than focusing on rote memorization or rigid formulas, this course emphasizes developing a deeper understanding of mathematical and statistical reasoning. Instead of simply teaching students how to calculate an average (mean), for instance, I will guide them toward discovering how to develop a value that they believe best represents an average. This reflective approach helps students think critically about the meaning and application of mathematical concepts, rather than just performing calculations. The course prioritizes practical applications over theoretical repetition. You will engage with real-world case studies and utilize modern tools such as MATLAB, R, and Python to solve problems across fields like medicine, social sciences, and business. We will explore statistical reasoning, data analysis, and numerical algorithms, always with the goal of helping students connect these abstract concepts to professional and real-life scenarios. By encouraging students to question, analyze, and understand the underlying logic of mathematical principles, the course fosters critical thinking and problem-solving skills. By the end, you will not only know how to perform calculations but also understand the "why" behind them, enabling you to apply mathematical reasoning effectively in academic and professional contexts.

“ Nick's approach is patient and thorough, informative and imaginative as well. He always comes up with his own examples in order to test my knowledge on a given exercise and helps me get to the answer at my own pace, rather than handing it to me. He doesn't use a one-size-fits-all method, but rather tailors his lesson in order to get out my full potential, even in a field I find difficult. He makes himself available for additional questions and is overall great to work with! ”

“ An excellent maths and physics tutor - incredibly responsive, flexible and helpful, with a great ability to explain concepts clearly. My sons have responded really well so far. After a short introduction and a couple of trial lessons, we were happy to continue and are hoping to work together for the rest of the academic year to achieve the goals we’ve set. Highly recommended! ”

“ We are just getting started, but our experiences with Oliver have been great so far. He is prompt to communicate, professional and very patient. He does a good job of understanding where my daughter is, helping her at her level, and not making her feel bad that she is having a tough time with Math. Highly recommend! ”
