I qualified with Teach First Ambassador Status reaching 32 / 35 'Outstanding' teaching standards (with the other three rated 'good'). I taught as a full time teacher for three years, then did supply teaching for several months so have experience from pre-school nursery up to year six. My ethos in the classroom was known around the school for being very calm and supportive. I managed to achieve outstanding behaviour management due to mutual respect and understanding. The children would come to me and write my name in the worries box as they knew I would be kind and calm. I believe it is more important to try hard and be able to deal with making mistakes than it is to get everything right. We would work together, tailoring my strategies to your child's individual needs in order to achieve your desired goal whilst having fun at the same time! I taught in year two and six as a full time class teacher. I taught the phonics screening test, the year two SATs and the year six SATs. This means I am capable of supporting children through any of these tests, with full knowledge and experience of the expectations and tests themselves. I ran a 'parent help club' after school where I worked alongside the parents to teach them how to teach their children. Subject knowledge is in two parts - firstly being able to do the subject yourself, and secondly knowing at which point each child should be within that subject. Teaching parents the simple, tangible techniques we use helps them to help their children. This means I could work with you as a parent / carer to help you support your child.
