My name is Jason and I've been playing guitar for over ten years. I studied music at University in the UK and went on to complete a Masters in Music Composition. After finishing my studies, I turned my attention to live performance. Over the past few years I have been working primarily as a session musician and guitar tutor in and around the London area, UK. As well as teaching guitar I have performed in jazz ensembles, accompanied vocalists, hosted jam sessions and recorded with various artists whilst also occasionally working in musical theatre and improvisation projects. I now reside in Luxembourg where I teach guitar. Although I specialise in jazz and Brazilian guitar, I teach a wide range of styles including pop, rock, blues and classical. Whether you're just starting out with guitar or you're a more experienced player, I can help guide you in the right direction with your practice. As well as teaching guitar, I offer tuition in musical theory and improvisation, as well as music composition.

The music writing courses (jazz harmony and contemporary music, arrangement, orchestration) are suitable for all levels in all styles of music: JAZZ HARMONY “Understand where it all started…” Harmony developed thanks to rules... which we always try to circumvent! Whether in the tonal, modal or synthetic world, harmony often serves as a basis for reflection for composition, for improvisation (but not only that!...). Let's discover together the codes and conventions that govern this universe! ARRANGEMENT “Understanding today’s music” The purpose of the arranging course is to show the different stages which lead to the creation of a musical piece, whether it is sung or not. ORCHESTRATION “Tradition at the service of modernity” Orchestrating means “putting timbres together” to create a sound! In this course, we learn to manage the instruments of the Orchestra and to create sound colors according to the emotion to be transmitted... What I'm offering in my classes is not the boring and traditional way, which is too slow, boring and not always effective. My methods always had great results on my students whether it's their first touch of the guitar's strings or they are struggling to improve their levels, or they're advanced and they want to move the next level of complex and fast pieces of music and playing like the great Al di Meola, Paco de Lucia and the great other musicians. I put always my self in a challenge to make my students achieve their goals no matter hard it is the situation in their minds, I always make it easy and smooth to be done through different strategies and methods. Hello everyone, I offer gypsy jazz lessons with or without music theory and for all levels. Together we will work on the accompaniment (swing, bossa, waltzes), enrichment of chords, improvisation thanks to the study of triads, arpeggios, scales and also by picking up solos in order to acquire vocabulary. I have a lot of experience in this field because I have the chance to play and record with the best of the style, I will be happy to share it with you. I also enrich my lessons with tablature supports made on Soundslice. Possibility also to take lessons with others. I have been teaching since 1996, I created my own school in Paris and published a guitar method.

PROFESSIONAL GUITARIST, COMPOSER, MUSIC AND GUITAR TEACHER Beginner-Advanced Level Experience: I am a professional musician and have been teaching students of all ages for over 20 years. My experience as a teacher and my pursuit of self-improvement as a musician have led me to develop an effective method that I have already tested with over a hundred students. Throughout my career I had the satisfaction of studying with great masters of different specialties or styles, each one emphasizing different aspects of flamenco, classical or modern guitar and each one has given me their approach (technique, rhythms, accompaniment, harmony, etc.), which has led me after years of study and compilation to take the best from each one to develop my method. My role in my classes is more that of a personal trainer than a teacher, where I will be very attentive to bringing out the best in my students, finding the right technique to help them develop a good rhythm, working on their rhythm, etc. For me, the role of a teacher, in addition to teaching, is to be part of a team, to maintain morale and constantly improve oneself while always maintaining a love for music. Methodology: I tailor the lessons to the student's level, style, or goals. Generally, the first half of the lesson is dedicated to technique, focusing on proper placement, execution, and relaxation, which will result in a good sound. Over time, I've realized that it's also a way to connect with the guitar, concentrate, and warm up. So, little by little, we'll develop our routine, which will begin by working on basic rhythmic aspects. The second half is dedicated to playing, trying to put into practice what we learned about the technique with the sticks or studying other concerns of the student, which may be a theme, harmony, falsetas, improvisation, or even other styles, etc., always obviously taking into account the search or interest of the student. Would you classify improvisation as composition or performance? Well actually it is both! When you improvise you are composing music on the spot, performing what you have made up at the same time as you have composed it. For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease. The key to success is understanding chords. Once you know how chords are formed and know what notes make up a few chords you will be well on your way towards being able to improvise. We will, therefore, start by ensuring a firm knowledge of certain chords. After this we will progress to improvising a simple melody over the top of these chords. The next stage is to start using notes that are not in the chord. The process is then open ended with emphasis on developing the melody. If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session. Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.
