Big music from small instruments! Mandolin and Ukulele have been increasingly popular in the past 10 years. Nevertheless, these two instruments are rarely used to their full potential. Have you ever thought that you could become truly proficient on one of these instruments, play across many different styles, and be as versatile as a violinist or guitarist? Aside from learning the basics, I will show alternative tunings that can provide greater sonic possibilities and an extended range, I will help you develop more comfortable positions for your hand, richer voicings, and clear visual maps of chords, scales, and harmonic movement. I will help you rethink the mandolin and ukulele as complete and professional instruments and show you how to play them across a broad variety of styles such as Folk, Blues, Pop, Rock, and Jazz. [According to the style and instrumental possibilities - electro-acoustic instruments - we can also work with loops and effects.] This class is meant to guide you from your very first steps on the instrument towards greater musical understanding and autonomy. Designed for both beginners and advanced musicians who want to challenge themselves and broaden their perspective on music and the instrument. The lessons will be custom made for each student. I will adapt to your learning rhythm while keeping you challenged at the same time. You will receive regular feedback, advice, guidance, and materials.

I work with a practical and personalized approach, adapted to each student's level, style, and interests. We combine technique, rhythm, harmony, and repertoire, applying theory directly to the instrument so that it makes sense from the very beginning. Classes can focus on accompaniment, performance, composition, or support for personal projects. The goal is for the student to gain confidence, autonomy and musical judgment, learning to play and understand the instrument as a creative tool.

Enthusiastic guitar tutor and performer. I started playing classical guitar at the age of 6, and my formal musical education began at the age of 9 when I started attending a music school in Croatia. After 6 years of primary school, I continued studying classical guitar at a secondary music school in Varazdin, Croatia. During that period I received training in classical harmony, Counterpoint (polyphony), Solfeggio, Music history and gained plenty of experience in orchestral playing and choral singing. I decided to continue my musical education in Manchester where I was studying for an undergraduate degree at the Royal Northern College of Music and currently I am studying at the Royal Conservatoire in the Hague. As a performing guitarist, I have successfully participated and won prizes in a number of international competitions in the UK, Italy, Croatia, Slovenia and Bosnia and Hercegovina. Although my studies are primarily related to classical music, I am comfortable playing and performing music in a range of other styles and genres. I am also experienced with mandolin and Croatian folk instrument called tamburitza.

I take all students from beginner to experienced musicians (who often need coaching in deportment and/or bowing technique) and encourage proper traditional Irish style. I teach aurally and written music using enough music theory to pass Irish state examinations in either TTCT (traditional) all levels, or up to RICM (classical) to level 4. While keeping lessons lighthearted and fun the idea is to quickly build up a repertoire of tunes that allow the learner to 'sit-in' on sessions as quickly as possible while also learning how to learn so one can pick up tunes easily. I myself have 7 All Ireland medals stretching from 1971 to 2001.
