★ A good teacher is above all a good pedagogue ★ Every student has a unique way of learning. A teacher's strength lies in their ability to identify this learning style and use it to teach in the most effective and engaging way possible. My approach is pragmatic and based on a close relationship with the student, essential for motivating and supporting them throughout their journey. I place particular emphasis on understanding concepts, learning methods, and visualizing situations through concrete examples. My primary goal is to improve my students' academic performance, but also to help them plan for their future and understand the mathematical logic underlying all concepts. Only by developing a deep and independent understanding can students truly master the subjects in the long term. Unlike an approach based solely on repeating exercises and learning by imitation, I firmly believe that only true understanding remains etched in the student's mind. The goal of my lessons is therefore to go beyond simple academic success, allowing my students to acquire a true understanding of mathematical concepts, thus preparing them for the rest of their academic career. To achieve this goal, I establish a relationship of trust and complicity with my students, transforming them into agents of their own learning. I prepare them not only for academic challenges, but also for the challenges of the professional world, cultivating their optimism and self-confidence—essential elements for any success and personal growth. Finally, with my experience and mastery of the subjects I teach, I am committed to defining clear and quantitative objectives, guaranteeing regular and personalized monitoring for each student.

Hi, I'm Mr Murphy, a skilled Microsoft & UNESCO-certified digital Teacher, a Course Facilitator, and a confirmed "expert" digital instructor by the European Commission. I've been teaching for about 14 years now. However, I started teaching virtually in 2020. When I teach, I paint mental pictures that learners can easily relate to. Because I understand the value of individual differences, I meet you right where you are. And, to buttress my points, I dramatize where applicable. Connectivity is also one of my strengths: I connect new concepts to prior knowledge which helps learners assimilate better. I have a BSc. in Economics, a National Diploma in Business Administration, a Diploma in Basic English Grammar, a 120-hrs TESOL certificate along with over two dozen other teaching-related certificates; including the European Commission which is based on the European Framework for the digital competence of educators. I'm presently in pursuit of my Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) and I have already passed my TRCN. Currently, I work with a virtual institution where I'm conversant with four major curricula — the British, the American, the Canadian, and the Australian. I work with a wide range of online teaching platforms. I specialize in elementary and high school subjects like Mathematics, English, and Basic Science. I also help learners pass Standard and Professional English tests/exams, IELTS, the CheckPoint, and the National Common Entrance Examination. My hobbies are reading, speaking, and content writing. Why not book a session with me? Let's work together; I strongly believe "every learner stands a chance to become better". And if we work together, you can become better. Thank you!

By investing in tailored lessons, parents can help their child overcome challenges and achieve academic success.

2. How do Apprentus tutors adapt their teaching methods to suit individual students?

Our tutors assess each student’s strengths and weaknesses to design bespoke lesson plans. For instance, a student struggling with fractions might engage in hands-on activities, while another preparing for GCSE exams may focus on past papers. We prioritise interactive methods, such as visual aids and real-world examples, to make maths engaging. Regular progress tracking ensures lessons evolve with the student’s needs, reinforcing foundational skills and boosting confidence. This tailored approach helps students in Glasgow master complex topics and excel academically.

3. What are the benefits of one-to-one maths tutoring compared to classroom learning?

One-to-one tutoring provides undivided attention, unlike crowded classrooms. At Apprentus, our tutors identify specific gaps in a student’s knowledge, such as trigonometry or calculus, and tailor lessons to address them. This personalised approach accelerates learning and builds confidence. Tutors also adapt to a student’s pace, ensuring they grasp concepts thoroughly before moving on. With flexible scheduling and customised strategies, students develop strong maths skills, preparing them for SQA exams and future academic challenges.

4. Why is a strong foundation in maths essential for students in Glasgow?

Maths underpins critical thinking and problem-solving, skills vital for academic and career success. In Glasgow, where schools like Hyndland Secondary, Hillhead High, and Notre Dame High School follow the rigorous SQA curriculum, excelling in maths opens doors to university and STEM fields.
